Just watched this at the cinemas and I have to say it's the one of the worst films I've ever seen.

I thought it was an emotionally involving movie, regardless of it being based on fact. I suppose I'm biased, but I do like movies that give time to everday rigamarole and end anticlimactically (no big explosions and stuff like that). I also like movies by Gus Van Sant (and Jim Jarmusch) which do about the same, but to the extreme.

Isn't it a little soon to re-open the wound? I guess patriotism has slowly declined and we need a little boost. Thank God that Nicholas Cage is starting in that last one. Too bad they couldn't get Mel Gibson.

I don't see it as re-opening a wound, but an examination of it.

Don't you see? Both liberals and conservatives in the US require - at least two - offerings from the Major Films Studios, in order to "heal the nation" of the wounds inflicted on the fabric of space-time itself that faithful day. It's all very cathartic - and happening in mythological time.
I don't get Ollie Stone... How can he produce Born Fourth of July, JFK and now WTC? I have got to see the film, but I'm afraid it'll be simply another "united we stand" rollercoaster ride of emotions.

there is loads of evidence that all three towers were brought down by controlled demolition. just research the topic yourself and draw your own conclusions.
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=18227649595990632...
larry silverstein (lease-holder of the towers) even admits in a documentary that they control demolitioned WTC7. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CahEva8zQas
("pull it" = slang for deliberatly taking down a building with control demolition)

After seeing it (some months ago), I have to say I think it's a really good film.
It's almost genius, the way it weaves things back and forth, without forcing the viewer into anybody's shoes.
As Mr. Brazil said, it compares to Gus van Sant's work. Look at Elephant, for example: that's another "American tragedy" turned into a good, understated film.
I know there's lots of conspiracy theories about 9/11 floating around, but we should separate political questions about whether or not something is a valid piece of art.
Let's put it this way: even if the events it describes were completely fiction, it would still be a really good film, at least from my perspective.

I've never been one for the big 9/11 conspiracy theories (you have to take into account how many people would have been behind it. and someone would have blown the whistle by now) but I doubt the movie really "accurate."
That said, it does pack an emotional punch. Far better than "World Trade Center"
