just saw Nine Inch Nails

best part of the show was the visuals, the music was just..
bad. i guess the venue is at fault. everything sounded like
one long snare drum and it was awful. i got a headache. yeah
its a recurring theme in my concert reviews BUT FOR THE LOVE
OF CHRIST THERE WAS NO BASS WHATSOEVER. just loudness. just
ear-scraping SHIT. fucking shitty. i was in the pit for most
of the time, too.

this big flourescent cage that encompassed the band was
awesome though. on this 'cage' were visuals popping up
everywhere, and it was backed up by the bigscreen in the
very back. so, so, so tight looking. it was very oldschool
in style.. imagine a 200 foot wide commodore display... but
it was only extensively used for one song, and then that was
it.

also what the fuck is up with fucking goth culture. bunch of
terrible people.worst fucking crowd i have ever experienced.
you want to know something else, trent fucking dedicated
this fucking concert to Dimebag Darrel (R.I.P) of Pantera.
do you know what that means for me? it means every
skinhead/redneck in south texas goes nigger hunting in the
parking lot while i am trying to find my car and go home. i
thought it was going to die. maybe its wrong for me to
attribute the dedication to the crap i experienced (one
bottle thrown at me, bunch of "nigger" comments, guy follows
me to my car and yells "BOO") to the dedication to pantera
but jesus christ, what the fuck is up with redneck goth
culture. all the fucking southville bush-supporting hicks
came out tonight and it was terrible. why do they even
listen to the music of trent reznor, he is anti-bush as fuck
and probably is homosexual

lastly the pit was SORRY. i mean, SORRY as FUCK. more
standing and staring than at an autechre concert. music is
supposed to move you, how the fuck can you just stand there,
and then get mad at me for bumping into you? what the fuck's
your problem motherfucker

yeah im serious though trent roused up the emotions of every
pantera skinhead in the fucking crowd and they decided it
was time to give the black man HELL. was it even a brother
who shot dimebag darrel? no it was a fucking lunatic. why
dont they go invade a mental clinic instead of charging
after me at full speed, with a beer bottle in hand while im
just trying to get to my fucking vehicle so i can go home?

what a bummer man. i heard the show up here last weekend
was the balls. my friend said it was the best nine inch
nails show since the moore theatre in seattle 1994. i
didn't get to go of course, festival concerts and 6mo old
babies don't mesh well.

Jesus. Terrible shit. Shitty that you´d have to go trough
racial shit at concert like that. I had no idea it could be
like that!

goth!

Sorry to hear that man.
There should be a skinhead genocide, I'm serious. It's
justifiable. They don't belong on this earth.

i went to see NIN last July 8th at the Birmingham Carling
Academy here in England.

i was very very very let down. i've kinda lost all respect
for the guy now

wow, you got ripped. i can relate though; i've seen a more
than my fair share of acts whom have been entirely destroyed
by sound engineer incompetence.

(i saw nin twice last year on their au tour. from all
accounts they were brilliant shows; very enjoyable.)

regarding some of your comments:

also what the fuck is up with fucking goth culture. bunch
of terrible people.worst fucking crowd i have ever
experienced.

and

lastly the pit was SORRY. i mean, SORRY as FUCK. more
standing and staring than at an autechre concert.

wow, much of the crowd here in australia were definitely
goth, but they were the nicest crowd for a band we'd ever
met; was one of the reasons it was so enjoyable. and the
pit was crazy; people were going nuts. i had to drag myself
out of it a few times to catch a breather.

i've heard aussies tend to 'go off' more at shows then you
yanks; evidently this is true?

sold it because I thought it was shit! There's only so much
whinning I can take from a rich rock singer.

didn't inspire racism; I bet if qrter was there he would
have said that, big time racist, that qrter.

the first and original skinheads played ska music and
preached peace and love and unitiy.. but that slowly changed
and it seems it's been a while now that the skinheads are no
longer the white ska-heads all fun and love but the
far-righted shits, nazi boys and gays.

trent reznor was bullied at school and apparently his chest
hair is fake.
the man is why emo exists for goodness' sake!
maybe he really is sad and stuff though, and longs for a
warm cup of milk before bed, reading manga.
aw.

the downword spiral is a fucking good album, and broken is
pretty great in a simple but evil way too. a thousand ways
to make it true, I want to do terrible things to you. I
actually never even heard the fragile yet, but saw a music
video 'there is no me' or 'there is only me' or
somthingerather which was pretty good, not GOD IS DEAD good,
but pretty fairly okayish. ++ham

I saw NIN in DC last year,

I wasnt big on the visuals except the screen they were
different visuals than you described.

The sound was awesome so it probably was just the venue you
were at. That is unfortunate.

The pit was awesome for me, at one point I got so exhausted
(the crowd is one big fucking amoeba thing here in DC. one
big force swaying back and forth. The pit isnt clearly here
or there it just sorta comes at you) anyway I thaught the
song playing was slower so I walked back to rejoin my
friends I heard "this world threw me away" (Burn, one of
the best songs to mosh to) I sliced my body thru the crowd
into the pit with my knee hitting some unfortunate goth kid
in the back of the head who really should have been more
aware of his surroundings (he looked like a deer in the
headlights towards the people in the pit so he sort of was
asking for it) the pit was pretty brutal (as it should
be)... I was also pretty lucky when Closer came on.. to all
sides of me were women two sides were other couples and the
girl in front of me I recognized from highschool so she was
fair game... the girl behind me had big tits that my face
kept going into as she jumpd and the crowd swayed
forward....

I'm sorry it was shit for you in Texas. Should try the DC
crowd...

Would be nice if they filled up the whole arena with fans.
Then, instead of NIN playing, they look the doors and gas
the lot. That would be very goth.

I really like the less rockish NiN songs..

The Quiet version of The Day The Whole World went away has
pretty much my favorite piano melody ever. Yeah it's emo,
but that can be good in small doses too.

My buddy saw Trent live at some festival with a full
orchestra behind him, said it was amazing.

emo is bands like My Chemical Romance, The Used, Panic at
the Disco, Finch, Fallout Boy etc etc...

The really winey voices and shitty my gf broke up with me
type lyrics... and the music videos have some sort of a goth
theme to em. (I.E. The Black Parade. Panic at the Disco
dressing up like mad hatter and doing poses that are similar
to a Clockwork Orange)

Tho Trents lyrics are depressive they are hardly emo.

Emo is just short for anything Emotional in my book, at
least that how it's used around here. Emo movies, emo rap
lyrics, etc
