I've read that Drukqs is considered an accessible album
release of APhex Twin... how is this possible? That drukqs
can be considered accessible? Come on, this is hardly the
music you'd hear on the radio...

offline aron from saskatoon (Canada) on 2002-03-07 02:23 [#00115058]
Points: 3756 Status: Lurker

chris clark's stuff is wicked.
highly reccomended.

go plastic
geogaddi
endtroducing (not really idm tho i guess)

^ that list would be different everyday though.

Hahaha, I remember when Funky wasn't too fond of Drukqs... I
always thought it was the best electronic music I've ever
heard.

Drukqs
I Care Because You Do
Music Has the Right to Children

offline que from vancouver (Canada) on 2002-03-07 02:25 [#00115065]

yeah... it's pretty extreme and took me awhile to get into,
but I did always like it, just more so now...

In no particular order and subject to change by even
tomorrow, perhaps:

Phoenecia - Brownout
Richard Devine - Aleamapper
Squarepusher - Go Plastic

offline Clic on 2002-03-07 04:24 [#00115129]
Points: 5232 Status: Regular

Actually, I think I'll swap Go Plastic with Chiastic Slide
from Ae. I love Go Plastic, just been getting into that Ae
album a lot lately though.

chris clark... any other releases besides clarence park?

offline perceptor from North Liberty (United States) on 2002-03-07 06:12 [#00115195]
Points: 134 Status: Lurker

Proem-negativ
brothomstates-claro
arovane_phonem-aer (valid)

as far as the classics go

Ae-amber
Polygon Window-surfing on sine waves

these were the first two electronic records I got. after
about 4 years I still never tire of hearing them.

Clic: good taste...brownout is amazing. I need to pick up
richard devine's newest stuff. my favorite is still that
record he put out on schematic as opposed to lipswitch on
warp.

offline Clic on 2002-03-07 06:20 [#00115199]
Points: 5232 Status: Regular

Likewise, thank you Perceptor. You just reminded me of
Brothomstates. I love Claro. I like the Qtio ep as well. And
yeah, Brownout is amazing. I just got it and I've been
listening to it like mad. =)

I never knew what 'IDM' stood for... can y'all clear it up
for me? I'm pretty sure I make IDM, but I'd like to be
positive, so I can tell my wife.

Aha! LeCoeur! These people won't tell me what IDM stands
for- it's embarassing, but I really have no idea! I fucking
*make* IDM (I've been told), but I couldn't rightly say what
it is.... do you know?

offline Clic on 2002-03-07 06:59 [#00115227]

Intelligent Dance Music. I think it's an absurd term in some
cases. I never really use it to describe anything musically.

Thanks! Silly, isn't it? I really didn't know. I suppose
I *do* make a bit of it... can you really dance your way
through SAW II? Those crazy blanket terms!! I'd love to
direct you all to my artsy-fartsy website, but it's down....
:( Got some sheeeit to deal with about switching domain
providers....
