existance is quite amazing. Our ability to be conscious of
our own consciousness is fairly improbable and that alone is
extraordinary.

Thats one thing I've come to realise, but forget a lot.

Good luck to you two off the ADs!

Staplemouth, good luck especially, watch out for the brain
zaps.

When I got off (a long time ago) I realised how tired I was
on them, and that it had been affecting my libido etc...
hope it all goes good for you.

drugs are over rated. talking about drugs is nearly always
cringeworthy. why do so many people on these internet boards
think it's so beautifully tragic to have some sort of mental
deficit, it's not fucking special to be a spong on
medication. have a jog, drink some water... stop your drippy
cock ruining my carpet. help i'm a heroin addicted teenager
and i just want to love and make music. FUCK OFF!=]

well said, lupus.

as for me, i finally stopped being a sorry bastard and
actually decided to do something with my social life. i had
been scared to do anything out of the ordinary since i
graduated high school a few months ago, and usually just sat
around playing video games with a friend, but i came to
realize my life was very sad. at 19, i had barely any
friends and never went out to do anything.

so i've actually started getting in touch with people i used
to know and getting out there and doing stuff... it's good
to feel like i'm actually doing something worthwhile rather
than sitting around wasting whatever i'm worth as a person
playing video games or watching movies.

i know i must sound like a really sad person, but that's my
recent life change.

"It was the general belief in the 14th and 15th centuries
that those who experienced blasphemous, sexual, or other
obsessive thoughts were possessed by the devil.
"

I think we modern day cybernauts have a lot to learn from
our middle ages ancestors.

Do you actually see this activity as a problem? Or are you
just using other peoples perception on you activities as an
indicator that there is a problem?

Well, what I mean is, if he realizes that he needs to change
out of his own perceptions, he can probly do it without
medication. People who are "naturally" strong willed, that
is an illusion. Strength is a skill.

If he is just using other peoples perception as a guage,
then he will probly need to continue medicating himself.

I suppose, but that would depend on how 'beatable' the
illness is... his OCD could be particularly severe, and not
confidence/willpower related... there's a crossover point
where psychological problems become neurological

My friend (who has bipolar) had a little tiff with a
scientologist recruiter person in town last week, lol. He
was saying the same stuff to him - which is valid yes, but
is just ignorant in cases like his - if he went off his
medication he'd probably end up in hospital again. They were
telling him if he bought ol' Hubbard's book from them he
could cure his mental illness, don't think he took too
kindly to that!

(I wasn't implying that your point is ignorant btw, just the
scientologists' manner)

i'm not referring in particular to this thread, and i
acknowledge that some people do have genuine problems. I'm
pretty well versed in psychology, i graduated in it. i do
think there is a tendency for these things to be glamorized
and used in a way that feeds ego. I'm not referring to axion
in particular, i think he's a good egg. i think people get
given anti depressants way to easy however.

OK sorry dude.

:)

I agree they are given out so freely. Seems the same is
happening with antipsychotics, which is even more worrying,
they are dirty as hell...
