For the last 5 or so years I've been a regular customer here at my local independent music store called Neptune Records. This is the place that helped me find my musical identity and now I hear they're going out of busniess on friday. Fuck. Even the fact that everything is half off an already discounted price can't cheer me up.

Pink Panther records up here closed a while ago too. It was the place I used to get the early warp, rephlex, rising high stuff, plenty of good finds in there over the years and the only place to find them in these parts. It went downhill though. Before the end it was just stocking awful metal and shit techno mixes so I didn't feel too bad when it went.
This is the place to mourn the loss of decent record shops.
I miss Volume Records in Newcastle.

Yeah man, all these shining candles gettin snuffed out... only other place close to their level is a store called Record Time in Ferndale but's mostly hip-hop and techno, not the minimalist electro-acoustical/ post rock stuff I've grown accustomed to. I mean, I'll still find great stuff on my own but it's nice to share with people in person who have tastes like your own. Eh, such is life

when i was in college my favorite music store "the sound" burned down.
i peered into the window at the charred blackness and wept. i wept tears of tears. teardrops full of tears for the torn tiers of music.
