The girl who did the video is a friend of Ae's. I think she
made it as a surprise for Sean and Rob. There is some more
info in her blog.

I would also like to add that the girls are damn sexy.

they want you to install alexa toolbar. just do it. usually
this program is considered spyware, but it helps download
from megaupload )

you can install it and then wipe it out, once you've got
what you wanted. With the help of some antispyware.

they had 200 slots for Ukraine once :) liars

it was hard to notice what the two ladies were eating
because i was so distracted by every
amateur-film-student-making-their-first-video cliche and
mistake that could possibly happen.

it's too bad they relied on girls acting cutesy and had zero
film technique. it's like they had a mountain of potential
with the visuals they chose and then got to the set and
said, "ok now do something cute and then stick pinwheels in
the sand lol ok lets have some more beers".

it's pure shit. it almost ruins the song for me.

Didn't really notice any film student cliche's but then, i
haven't seen many videos by amature film students. except
for the glitchy IDM ones, which this was not.

i just like it. i don't LIKE like it. i just like it more
like a friend.

hm.

"Synopsis:
On a bizarre journey to find happiness, two best friends
join the world of indulgence where they get a glimpse of
what lies concealed in the pranks of everyday life."

ok, my interpretation:

finally! portrait of the problems of (female) puberty theme
part 1124919412946!!
beginning with the young women "finally taking a stand" by
going against what was once the vector, the"pushing" force,
managing to finally control/steer it themselves (btw, am i
dreaming or is that first scene a bit much "inspired" by the
karma police video?), their quest throughout illustrated
with some simple childish to hedonistic symbolism (the
aforementioned experience of (self-) indulgence, seeking
fun, but seemingly staying "kinda empty" (up to last beach
scene)) til they eventually encounter the other sex
(surprise, surprise) and enthusiastically get to play with
that, testing it's patience and abusing him (stealing food,
hoohoo, how pranky) it until he (suddenly in a uniform
symbolising authority, i guess) gets enough and "throws them
out" as finally regret/doubt seems to set into the girls
minds (aaaaaaw). oh the confusion, oh all those ambivalent
feelings, what have i done, what should i do, blah blah
blah.
not a really new/exciting theme, especially not in pop
cultural context. sure, in conjunction with certain
"IDM"-genre-clichés it may seem kinda "revolutionary", but
if that's the only way to break out, to integrate some weary
pop code/genre-external clichés... oh well :/ . i hope i
dont sound bitter. there were feminine aesthetic forces in
electronic music all the time. to name just one conemporary
example i sometimes enjoy extravaganza of kevin blechdom.
she also incorporates pop cliché into her art, but
something very personal and unique is created in the
process. technically, i also can't find it really moving
along with the music too well, apart from the fact that it
fits the approximate overall structure (moving from a
naive/ironic mood through it's disentegration to a
vague/unce

vague/uncertain and rather uncanny terrain), but that's
really about it. and yes it's played badly beyond belief,
though that may be part of the concept (portraiting the
greenness of the protagonists etc).

you're right, nobody explicitly claimed it would be
revolutionary.
but to quote you:

"Didn't really notice any film student cliche's but then, i
haven't seen many videos by amature film students. except
for the glitchy IDM ones, which this was not."

that for example made to me the impression that the quality
seen in this video comes from it's freshness since it doesnt
feature those glitchy IDM stuff you mentioned. i just don't
find it that refreshing after all.

"gay probably"

well... um... that's a point, i guess (?)

oh and to finally mention the bacon: i guess that ought to
be one of those symbols of hedonism/decadence, since at
least the blonde actress claims to be vegetarian, and the
director to be buddhist.

i was being facetious. i don't really think you're gay. if
you are gay that's cool though. i'm down with gays. some
of my best friends are gayer than the day is long. so if you
are gay, that's fine by me. if you are vegitarian though..
oh man.

but yes i find the video to be refreshing. again. i'm not
totally in love with it, but i did put it on my iPod. so i
could watch it again. and again. and yes maybe, again.

no i've never seen a highschool music video. of course when
I was in highschool, video cameras cost 3000 dollars and you
needed two strong men to hold one up. so not a lot of kids
at my highschool were big enough to operate one, especially
not the A.V. dorks.

it's cool :)

heh, reading it again my critique really sounds a bit harsh
(and confusing haha, sorry, english's not my mother tongue.
no drugs were involved, i swear :P). i didn't intend to
fight over mere matters of taste. i just can say that
personally it didnt impress me that much, and i find the
tendency to see therein "a new hope" a bit... dunno... also,
this tendency is indeed only what i thought i had read
between lines here and there, maybe it was just paranoia...
whatever. peace out.
