http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio3/mixingit/pip/trl6m/

saw that on Touch site, its the latest Spire event.

i broke my computer & cannot do any sound capture for the
moment, if anyone could make a mp3 of the whole event
(Fennesz, BJ Nilsen, Gorecki & JS Bach & etc...- organ
works) that would be very kind..

you can find it as a realplayer file (Listen Again section,
then Mixing it, fri 19 may)

some really nice works ou there.

I recorded this directly off FM to wav, I'll see if I can
mp3 it then yousendit it. It'll be better quality than a rip
of the BBCs stream.

str8 from the radio. great news :-)

If you've any preference on bitrate, now's the time to say.
Otherwise I'll probably do LAME alt-preset-standard.
It'll take a while to encode then upload so keep checking
back!

well as i'm turning into an audiophile, i guess the 256
would be better & fit with the sound aspect of those
recordings (organ things). but that might turn those files
into a massive file, maybe, if you could edit (if you have
enough time) the already released pieces (gorecki) & make
separate files that would be better. but of course, that
might take lots of time.

i'm really interested in the Bach, BJ Nilsen, Organoise &
Fennesz recordings.

thanks again for sharing that!!!

256 it is then. Hopefully the file won't be too huge. The
whole lot are live performances so technically none
of them are already released. I'll just do the whole lot
anyway.

You couldn't upload to YSI or something could you? I'd very
much like to hear this.

the --alt preset extreme would be a better option, perhaps

I'll split it into two, maybe three pieces. Then it'll
work.

Here we go again.

192 kbps is enough imo
I'd rather have it in one file.

but thank you for going through the trouble

People, let's be resonable. It's FM radio, not one bit above
192 is needed.

Do not get me started on that. I am warning you, just do not
get me started.

Hehe. My attitude toward bitrates is an off-beat one. The
higher the bitrate the guiltier my conscience feels about
stealing music, so I'm usually happy with 160kbps.

:)

My feeling is that since these are not commercially
available pieces, were broadcast for free and were easily
recordable by anyone with a brain, computer, tape deck,
minidisc recorder, etc, just who could it be hurting to
share them, whatever the bitrate?

I use 128 instead of 96 now.

thanks again for sharing!

on the subject of files sharing on the internet & the new
trend in the music bizness, there is (also from Touch site)
an interesting text by Jon Wozencroft, who is co-leading
the label with Mike Harding-:

http://www.limitedlanguage.org/data/index.php?p=48

as far as i'm concerned, if those leeds recordings will gets
released on cd, i'll buy it for sure but for the moment, i'm
glad to listen to it.

latest & very recommended Spire records :
