i never really understand why ppl think he's so 'difficult'
say his guitar is out of tune, doesnt sound out of tune to
me
bit of an odd geezer probably but not a first for a
'singer/songwriter'

I keep meaning to get stuff by this dude, but never have
done. I downloaded a couple of tracks and wasn't over keen.
It was a bit grim.

But it's the sort of thing I'd like to have another crack
at.

What do you recommend??

he was performing at a festival where i was working. at
first i thought he was really scary. he decided, on the
morning of his gig, that he wants a piano and a harpist for
impro. they did manage to get a harpist on satturday.
everyone was waiting for a bluesy gig i think, and he just
played scales on his piano for an hour with the harpist.

but he was actually quite nice.

ooh, i remember him.
i found reading about him heaps interesting, and his music
was a little too unlistable for me. though this was a while
ago. i might check him out again, not any time soon tho..

i have one album by him ("shadow of leaves" - the one that
provoked a lot of debate, shock and awe or so i've heard,
because the cover photo was photoshopped). i've never
listened to it until the end...

i think it's really interesting, something to hear at least
once in your life and i really like the "myth" around the
artist, but frankly, the way i feel about it now, i think i
would have to be in some really fucked up mood to
enjoy it. (i described it some months ago like walking into
your apartment/home at halloween and finding a corpse on the
floor, not knowing whether it's a real or a plastic one.)
