Geogaddi = hype.

I think Warp have created a hype. Is there somebody who
agree with me that their new album is not so essential as
"Music has the....".

I knew Iron would be the first to react. But he's such a
tender person his reactions tend to be soft and caring (or
he smokes a lot of pot). Wait for others.

I agree with you... Hype kills a record for me...

One of things I've always loved about AFX is his attitude to
over-hyping...the music should speak for itself...

And if it's good enough, then Word of Mouth will take it to
the top...(for instance, Portishead...I bought it first day
it was released and after 6 months I had endless messages
saying "you gotta check out this CD..."...felt a bit elitest
saying I'd already had it (& their previous CD singles)
since the beginning...

I do not want to be the one starting any trouble...but hell,
everyone knows how much I love BOC and I always have to tell
people to give them another listen.....
Geogaddi is a masterpiece and I wish more people could
realize this....

Also, If domeone does have an opinion that I dont agree with
or does'nt match mine...I love it...That is waht makes thi
MB sooo good....So many opinions.

Oh and yeah...I DO smoke alot of pot....=)

Just give it a little time Artemis...if you liked
MHTRTC...it is only a matter of time before you see the
light....

=)

BOC is great great great. I really love their prevouis
releases. OK, i take the disc again in my CD-player. :=).
Bye the way, Ironlung, have you heard "Twoism"?
Directine and iced cooley are their best tracks ever. I feel
love for it.

But you have the point, Artemis, in saying it has been
extremely hyped. It just comes with the territory I guess,
with WARP being a big label now and all. Since I own
Geogaddy only since yesterday I have not made my mind up
yet. I think it's excellent but can't say yet if it's up to
the standards of MHTRTC. And it's probably up to the
individual, I guess people who have been listening to BoC
before MHTRTC have different opinions...

afraid we will never hear them, there are probably not more
than 50 of each in existance.

with every listen, even tons of people on this board hated
it at first and now they are obsessed. Give it 50 listens
and then decide.

geogaddi just isnt that great, ive been listening with an

new age relaxation tapes!

now this Album is one of my favs. Maybe the same will be
happen with Geogaddi

i dont know artemis, i loved SAWII when it cames out, still
love it (not as much as brian enos ambient stuff though)
geogaddi for me has too many ugly bits, only 2 or 3 lovely
tracks and then a pile of filler tracks.

i think the trouble comes about when someone posts something
parallel to "geogaddi is shit, your opinions are wrong you

defensive. i like geogaddi. a lot.

i guess for some people it takes a little time to like what
is more obviously good to others

take Go Plastic for example; i hated it at first but
over time it grew and now i love it and vice versa

keep the open mind and have a day of BoC and then you'll
love it like us others

Naw.. I dunno I dont pay much attention at ALL to the warp
site or whatever. So I dont get any hype. I did for Drukqs
and it was a shitty CD, but Id probably think that anyways.

thats just soooo patronising, no one has said that the
opions of geogaddi fans are wrong. The same way that the
opinions of 'new kid on the block' fans cant be wrong.

weve told you that weve listened to geogaddi plenty of
times. why do you want us to like it so much? we are just
stating our opinions on the album, not mike and marcus
(theyve created plenty of awesome music to make up for
geogaddi). you like it, i dont. by saying that, im not
making a personal attack on u! ive said myself that there
are some wicked trracks on geogaddi, but there are also many
tracks on there that are actually sub-BoC. I am amazed at
the amount of hype surrounding this record.

i loved go plastic at first, but now am not so impressed.

oh and btw the new alicia keys album is awesome, you dont
like it? oh well give it 10 more listens then youll like it
, :)

Naw naw naw..... Go Plastic Bored me... I hardly ever listen
to it. Same with Drukqs I was angered by that one by AFX..
its just not original and has no new style! Its BORING!

Geogaddi is excellent!

Confield is excellent!

are you responding to me? if so, you got me all wrong. i
never told you to like geogaddi. i'm saying that your post
was not one to arouse trouble. and yes, it has been stated
various places that geogaddi is bad album, not that they
didn't like it, but that in a factual matter it is a bad
album. i appreciate your comment. i'm relieved to see that
you grasp the concept of opinion. many don't, ya know?
i'll not try the alicia keys, thanks.

who the fuck cares if it's hyped.. BOC deserve the
attention; these are taltented musicians, they need money
from us fucks who download a decent amount of their shit in
mp3s anyways. and if someone not familiar with all this
music is exposed to BOC through a bit of hyping by warp..
good for them.

don't be elitist f4rks

I was never one to think that advertising and marketing was
a bad thing... what is bad is if the music is made for a
certain target market... that's stupid... but if an artists
makes good music, who cares if it's marketed like hell...
get it out to as many people I say... hype it all you
want...

I love BoC, probably my fourth favorite electronic artist.

I think Geogaddi one of their worst releases, on about 5
listens straight through and about 20 listens to the songs I
really like (1969, Music is Math, Over the Horizon Radar).

I'm actually surprised how much praise its gotten here,
Geogaddi has big posters in Tower Records which doesn't
surprise me as much, when music becomes bad people will love
it. But I definately do not see what people are talking
about when they say this album touches Music Has The Right
To Children.

I have to agree that its hype, because people with otherwise
great musical tastes are saying things that I just can't
agree with, like Geogaddi is better than drukqs. I dont
know really...I mean for the most part there isn't really
much hype of any kind in electronic music...most of us here
are pretty genuine to our own tastes. Plus, there was a lot
more hype for drukQs than there was for geogaddi =)

oh man geogaddi has been hyped so much! compared with
vatican nitez created by rephlexs top artist- and hardly
anyone has heard of him, but in *my* opinion, vatican nitez
is a much nicer album and is actually gonna be a classic,
whereas geogaddi will be consigned to the bins of peoples
electronic ears
