hey the director is alejandro amenabar, he is spanish... check his first movie called "Tesis"
he also made the film "open your eyes" which is now under an american version "vanilla sky"

vanilla sky sucked ass. maybe the original spanish one was better than the American remake but the remake sucked. I didn't realize that same guy did the Others, though. He must be quite a good movie director to penetrate Hollywood multiple times and still exist outside of it.

his first movie is great (in spanish) "tesis" then he made "open your eyes" (he didnt do vanilla sky, this is just a version by another director) but this second movie wasnt that good as the first...then "The others" is directed by him but with american money behind the project... I liked it very much... but many people say that the end is too similar to that of the "sixth sense"

Yes the end is too similar the "sixth sense" . That ruined it for me. The first 3/4 was good.

there was a great atmosphere thoughout the film-it brought out a whole new perspective of ghost stories-top film
