There will be no new idm area, it's all done before.

And the new R'head songs indeed sound like they're making a
loud rocking album. Which can be nice for a change... But on
the other hand, they might come up with an "R.E.M.-Monster"
of an album. Which can be dissapointing...

what about industrial idm
industrial is really not evolved yet it are either
rock/noize bands
or its old classic aphex twin or old cylob but thats not
really only intelligent stuff its just pure hard industrial
techno

by new idm industrial i mean pro radii - autechre
but thats only one track its totally not a revolution now
but it will be

sorry for the last post it was kinda off topic

i listened to the new songs again and they have to grow on
you i think but im still a bit disappointed i hoped they
finally did some more experimentation

it are really feelgood songs
arpeggi and 15 step are kinda good in a way
the rest still is weak i think

experimentation?? they're only good when they do good old
rock and not make fools out of themselves with trying to
experiment because it only makes them look stupid. there are
many other rock bands who know how to experiment so
radiohead trying to do it is just plain silly.

Meow! Some of their experimental stuff is pretty far
reaching, Goran, I bet you've got a poster next to your bed.

As much as I agree some songs are substandard IDM, a lot of
others like Pyramid Song, I Might Be Wrong, or Living in a
Glasshouse, I can't see anything but originality there,
stylistically.

what about "pulk/pull revolving doors" ? not experimental
enough ?

try to listen to it with either left or right speaker off,
the rhythm changes.

we must have different ideas about 'experimental'.

Hehe yeah, I guess I mean experimental within the narrow
confines of mainstream alt-rock. Its not exactly merzbow.
THough I would be amused if they persued that direction just
in time for their upcoming gigs.

that's some experiment, isn't it

i thought it was just about writting the songs that came to
you, instead it appears it must be about fiening some kind
of experimentation scientific process wherebuy new borders
are breched and ground made, instead of just doing what
comes or what you are good at.

I don't appreciate music because its groundbreaking, i like
it just because thats my taste and it fits my ears.

that's the way it is supposed to be, yeah. but when i see
all these fans talking about how experimental radiohead are
i can't help it :)

gives me images of them in white coats with test tubes and
litmus paper searching for the "NEW SOUND"

you know, it's media presenting them a bit that way too.
they probably are less straight pop rock than other bands of
that sort (arctic monkeys, franz ferdinand, the strokes,
coldplay,..), but compared to what some underground rock
bands are doing they can't be described as experimental or
avantgarde..but yes, it's all down to whether you like the
sound of it or not. to me it just sounds dull, and that's
that :)
