I just got 2 phoenecia albums in the mail, both are
excellent... brownout is really intricate, but the other
older album almost impressed me more, called "randa roomet".
This album is an ep with 4 tracks, it doesn't go out of the
way to do hyper intricate evolving stuff, instead it
resorts to old fashioned beats based on powers of 2, but the
beats are really well thought out and intricate constantly
change in interesting ways (simpler than brownout), though
the entire album is sorta linear, just the right complexity
to be fun... it just sounds like music for the sake fun, not
for showing off what crazy bizarre sounds can be created. It
reminds me of "lobster tracks" and "a chance to cut is a
chance to cure" in that respect. The beats are wicked.

I just got Brownout and I love it. I think JSpace is
excellent, among many others.

i thought it was fo-nee-sha too...and i guess it can be
pronounced that way...its not like there are any phoenicians
left to argue...
