Yeah. Like the "mode" or "scale". I don't know if that makes any sense. I'm not good at music termonology. Like certain intervals that make something sound like jazz or baroque. Are there specifics that make electronic music sound like electronic music. Well, other than being made...electronically.

So wait, basically it's not going to be real musical intervals but rhythmic changes instead?

''Electronic music'' is a pretty broad term, can't really answer this. There's electronic music that sounds unmistakably jazzy, electronic music that eschews melody and just sounds primal and violent, electronic music that incorporates traditional and avant-garde classical ''rules''... I mean, it's not really a genre in and of itself. Xanopticon =/= Paul Lansky.

it's basically popmusic with a few extra bleeps and farts added and boys find it very interesting and attractive, perhaps because they can get all obsessive and fanboyist over it.

"electronic music" is just normal music played on electronic instruments.. other than that, there's no difference, and I don't really see why the term "electronic music" is needed at all to be honest.

But shouldn't there be? Souldn't there be some form and structure to follow? If not, then it's just free jazz or something...can you call Mariachi music with awesome beats electronic music?

Your tautology aside, I guess that answers it. I was just thinking that there might be something to absolutely separate this genre from all others. Something to do with how the notes are arranged and not what arranges them. 12 tone isn't Mariachi, vice versa. But I guess with the right beat they can both be considered electronic music?

i don't understand where the ambiguity comes in: "Electronic music is a term for music created using electronic devices."
it is any music at all made in any style anywhere by anyone or anything at any point in time that is produced by electronic devices. by definition, it has nothing to do with beats, measures, lush factor, or any other compositional or tonal concept.
so, yes, there is something that absolutely separates this genre from all others. but it isn't a musical scale or rhythm, for instance.

I think thi s an interesting question
I always wonder what is the structural diference between techno, electro, drum n bass....
you know the diference in the pentagram
is it a question of notes used? of times? rythm?...
