I want to expose you all to this terribly overlooked band.
Its party music, its 80íes, its talk box, effects and loads
of synth and funk, and a great mellow style. I love these
guys, and you deserve to know them.

I know most a lot of you will feel the need to post "hey,
thats ghey" or something. Keep it to yourself. If you cant
realise this is brilliant, you simply don't deserve it.

One of my favourite Zapp tracks:
Itchin' For Your Twitchin'

A great live video with:
So ruff, so tough

One of the great soulfull tracks with Zapp:
I wanna be your man

If anyone is in doubt, i'm 100% serious

I'm fucking obsessing over them. Its such great music. I'm
so inspired for my own stuff. How someone can write such
uplifting songs? There is not a hint of irony in my undying
love for these guys. Its fucking brilliant, and anyone who
cant see that, doesnt deserve this hidden gem of a band.

Their whole sound palette, naive lyrics and their vibe.

Yep. This is probably my favourite band.

The ballads are a bit of a guilty pleasure, because they are
so extremely sleazy. But its just soooooooooooo good.....

Found this historical clip on youtube. This is the exact
clip the troutman family was watching when they decided to
become talk box kings

Stevie wonder on sesame street

Yes yes yes, awesome tunes.
In a similar vein Ronnie Hudson & The Street People's "West
Coast Poplock" is a classic also, but I can't find a youtube
vid for it.
:(

Yeah, the 80's were just as good for funk as the 70's in my
opinion. If you like this sort of thing check out Chromeo's
mix album on Igloo records which draws a neat line between
late seventies/early eighties funk and soul up to early
house.

Yeah, good call.
