listening now...doesn't seem like its your first song
though, judging by the fact that you have like 20 other
songs there =)

I like the song, what I dont like too much are the sounds
themselves, they're too 'digital' for me, but whatever thats
just a preference. I liked your last one more though. Dont
worry about spamming, I like hearing your new stuff :)

I agree, spam all you want, we're all here for music
basically.

actually this song didn't appeal to me as much as a lot of
your other stuff (i'm still in the process of downloading
them bit by bit). Keep experimenting and doing new things
like this though, it's the best way to find out new
interesting (pointless) crazy stuff heh heh.

The sound is rich, but kinda ambientish... I like
percussionish stuff usually because the short sound bursts
allow maximum units to compose in minimum time... the
shorter the sounds, the more action possible to pack in
time.

thanks for listening guys

yeah m, this one wasnt as percussion based...i was trying to
keep it sort of simple this time...i find it easier to make
really complex tracks..so ive been trying to make more
simple ones...since its sort of harder to make something
simple but still interesting...

yeah... that's true.

but there's different ways of being simple... like, the
organization could be extremely complex, but only one sound
is used... in this case a limited sound pallette... Or the
organization could be a simple repeating noise, that mutates
and changes into all sorts of different sounds. etc.

I usually like somewhat minimal stuff, because I like
symmetry, and you can't have that with constant
change/difference. I like mutating symmetry though, like
evolution. Like squarepusher has complex beats with the same
sounds basically, but each "measure" has the percussion hits
organized in a slightly different way, somewhat randomly...
similar but different.

yeah..thats a good point..
i was talking more about simplicity in a compositional
sense..one thing ive learned in school is that in making a
balanced composition..you want to have it so nothing can be
added or taken away..like one little thing missing or added
would throw the whole thing off

ive also been listening to a lot of simple music lately
...like rotor+, isan, harold budd+brian eno...and was
impressed at how they all used restraint in composing...i
think its neat how they can make the silence in between the
beats or notes just as important as the beats/notes
themselves

that's a very interesting idea of a balanced composition
there... I'll have to think about that for awhile. I think
something can pretty much always be added or subtracted...
or changed, and it will still sound good... but I like the
concept. You have to add the right thing though... I suppose
you could subtract just about anything and it'll sound good
still (given that the right things were added), Maybe the
"right" thing is subjective, but I don't think so entirely,
there's logical reasons some things sound better together
etc... that gives me ideas... like making some huge wall of
beats and then base the entire composition on the idea of
subtraction. Some classical composer said something like
music is painted on a canvas of silence... or something like
that... which I suppose is obvious, I think they said
something better but I forget what it was...

nice touch, the girls are called old mama instead of old
daddy. It mekas since sense girls tend to become mamas and
not daddys...

thanks lecoeur :)

yeah m...i guess the hard part in working that way is
figuring out when it sounds 'right'...theres such a thin
line between too much and too little..so i guess thats why
its harder than trying to make something really complex
..i've had to apply these concepts visually in school...and
am just now trying to apply them to music..that canvas of
silence quote is interesting..it makes sense because in
visual composition, the negative space is just as important
as the positive...i think i heard another quote somewhere
that said something like..without silence, music would just
be noise..

This is actually a good place for learning, we're all
sharing information and ideas and becoming specialists in
musical concepts. Books are just made by people too, why not
go where people have similar interests like here... "there's
a thin line between to much and too little"... interesting.
"without silence, music would just be noise"...
interesting.

I took some art classes but couldn't stand morons attempting
to cage my imagination. The purpose of school seems to be
job related, they'll teach you to make art for
advertisements to SELL stuff or some crap... yerg, hopefully
you'll get past the crap and get paid for something you like
doing.

i dug the sn0g man, very cool stuff.

there is this one sound that kinda stands out from the mix a
bit much though, its a reverse thumpy noise, continues
through the middle.. maybe lower the volume on it and/or
pitch it up or something. terrific work tho, just needs a
bit of tweaking.

eheheh...yeah its almost like a virtual cafe...without the
coffee...

yeah..im just in my first year...so im still learning basic
stuff...like the compostional concepts ive been talking
about...
but since im going into graphic design..it is basically
making art to sell stuff...or mind control through graphic
arts, if you rather...
