Don't go anywhere near SonicStage. I thought WMP was good, but it only rips in .wma for free.

EAC with the latest build of the LAME encoder. i don't know if this is the fastest way to go, but quality-wise you should be safe
if you're on an apple, use MAX

i have used Audio catalyst v 2.1 for long, cause you can tune it with an external encoder. wmp is faster but as futureimage said, only in .wma for free. easy cd-da extractor let you rename and retag lots a files a time i think. or you can do that with itunes... if you love mosic, you shouldnt go under the 192kbps, depends of the sound quality you can have with speakers/home theater/studio you have... but ;) 192 is good, and takes less place on hdd.

I second Ezkerraldean with Freerip (LAZY_TITLE ). I've used it since v0.6 and it moves at a great speed and makes quality LAME encoded files.

I use 2 cdrom drives at once to rip cds with EAC and convert after I've ripped to wav.
I can convert to Ogg Vorbis at more that 25x realtime using the SSE(2) optimised encoder

LAZY_WA_Fix You might try that to speed up Winamp Try checking "use Digital Audio Extract" and unchecking "use Sonic Engine" in audio prefs. in Winamp's settings...
