like, if you make music, how many files, projects etc do you have?
About 500 unfinished tracks, each of which have several, if not dozens of different versions (usually incremental "history" backups of earlier versions of the track, but sometimes alternate mixes/remixes).
thats everything thats finished and also tiny little audio burps you'll never ever ever go back to.. what
% of your music do you actually finish?
I'd estimate around 20% make it into full length tracks. Of these, maybe 15-20% are shared with mates and of those, maybe 30% are put up online.
how long has it taken you to make that much?
Almost a decade on and off (over about 12 years).
have you ever lost any music? if so how much..
Yes, at one stage in the early days I lost everything I'd ever done in a HD crash. This was in the days before CD-rs were cheap or commonplace. I'd say in the subsequent 2 HD crashes I lost about 50-100 tracks. These lost tracks are not included in my inital 500 track estimate.

i don't know, maybe a few hundred or more since 1997 or so.
i'm sure i've finished less than one hundred, and some are, um not so good.
lost a few parts here and there. nothing that didn't need losing.
only made a couple tracks in the last year or so, living in a house has made it difficult to find the time.

thats everything thats finished and also tiny little audio burps you'll never ever ever go back to.. what % of your music do you actually finish?
probably finish about 95% of it.
how long has it taken you to make that much?
about seven years.
have you ever lost any music? if so how much..
yes... probably less than 20 songs.

how many files, projects etc do you have?
probably around 50. I dont hang on to crap and Im not very active anymore
what % of your music do you actually finish?
usually just work through a crap start until its going somewhere, and if im bored of it I just round it off, so I suppose I only leave stuff unfinished because of time restraints or machine failurez. often I play with stuff but I never plan to make anything of it.
how long has it taken you to make that much?
5 yrs or so, very intermittent
have you ever lost any music? if so how much..
just odd tracks, never large amounts. 2 notable losses I can think of

like, if you make music, how many files, projects etc do
you have?
Roughly 200 unfinished tracks since 2004 and many concepts/projects/albums finished since 2002.
thats everything thats finished and also tiny little audio burps you'll never ever ever go back to.. what % of your music do you actually finish?
About 60%, I like to finish what I start, most of the unfinished tracks don't have much substance to work with, so it ends up as a very short 1-2 minute track that eventually get's scrapped. Not deleted, just not organized into an lp or ep.
how long has it taken you to make that much?
Since 2002
have you ever lost any music? if so how much..
In late 2004 I had to restore my PC because of virus'. I lost about 4 gigs of incomplete/complete music. I wasn't cautious enough to burn my music to cds. I am now. I still lose music sometimes, I'll delete a crucial file to a session I was working on because I didn't think I'd need it anymore. Makes it very difficult to return to that track, hard to see any point in continuing.

well in all my folders i apparantly have 595 tracks including everything in various stages...
thats everything thats finished and also tiny little audio burps you'll never ever ever go back to.. what
% of your music do you actually finish?
probably around less than 5% i think. i finish a fair bit but never let anyone listen to them cos i'm too ashamed.
how long has it taken you to make that much?
well i've been making music since 1998 but my current collection only dates back to 2001
have you ever lost any music? if so how much..
i lost all my early rebirth stuff. used to do a lot of acid and stuff on it and other things besides. i've got a lot of things now that arent lost as such, but i've lost samples/patches that i cant be bothered/are impossible to find/recreate so i dunno. quite a bit, but not loads.

like, if you make music, how many files, projects etc do you have? at least 200. that count was three months ago and i seem to be getting more and more prolific so around 250 odd now. theres countless bits and bobs dotted around on CDs from before my last computer went arse up.
what % of your music do you actually finish? 100% when its stuff to a brief. about 80% on personal projects. when working on personal projects i tend to throw shit together for a few hours, bounce it and then never go back to it (as is evident from my BAM stuff) and i class that as finished.

Over the last say... 5 years or so, i have probably accumulated about 50-75 tracks. that doesn't sound like much i guess after reading the other responses. But i work slow, especially now that there is a baby in the house, and since i started working with my band on the side.
But I finish probably 95% of what i start. maybe more. I usually get a track started and work on nothing else untill that track is finished. so at my fastest i can turn out maybe 1 track every 1 to 2 months. maybe.
i'm gonna release an album real soon actually (well, I'll try to release it. I'll spam it here anyway). it will include tracks i've completed as far back as 3 years ago. took a long time to get a full album of stuff i'd actually want to fill an album with. shit, there's a couple tracks on it i made using Sonic Foundry Acid before it was a Sony program. It's Sony now right?

Oh and I don't think I've ever lost a work in progress.
I have however lost the source files of some of my finished tracks, or they are files for programs (SF ACID) that i don't use anymore and don't have loaded on my computer.

how many files, projects etc do you have?
~40 drum kits saved as project files, and as i get something going with them i save them as new project files with the corresponding drum kit name appended to the title. and i have at least ~50 or 60 of those so far
once i get good sounding sequences out of drum kits i save em as loops usually. that is what happens most often
what % of your music do you actually finish?
probably 40-50%, i dont really 'finish' something unless im really, raelly really pleased by it. to be honest i have yet to "finish' a track
how long has it taken you to make that much?
too long
have you ever lost any music?
yes but recovered it later on by taking my laptop to the store.. i was afraid i was gonna lose all of it.
