autechre again

what does ae mean to YOU?
autechre is the future.

you will see that the color gray is a reoccuring theme with
ae, their warp records website has gray, they usually wear
gray clothing in photos, and many of the covers are gray or
some color in between.

i think that autechre represents humanity.
it represents humanity as they are put into an unknown
world; the universe.
their music represents both the abstract part of our minds,
but also the complex workings of the physical world.

these two things are very explicitly bound together, and at
some point, they become one, when the observer is ready.

i no doubt get many visuals of future worlds ran by
artificial intelligence, maybe aliens, and this seems to be
a theme in their music.
but all in all, it is also about finding yourself, and
finding out the secrets of the universe, both the quantum
world and the large scale "galaxy" world.
you put on a cd, and it's all chaotic, nothing makes sense
at this point, but then you grow to learn it, you grow to
love it, and you realize the beauty that lies underneath.
and then by the time the next cd is out, the first cd is
very "normal" again.

this is all natural and part of your development.
of course some gifted people "get it" right away, they put
on confield for the first time, and they see beauty at once,
like i did.
but for many others, it takes a long time, and some people
will never learn to love it.

regardless, this is MY OPINION of autechre, and how i
interpret their music to have a good time listening to it.

how do you interpret it? if you interpret it at all? maybe
you just like sounds?

"of course some gifted people "get it" right away, they put

or they can go my way and start appreciating it after it
gets to them. i bought confield when it came out and i gave
it one quick listen. then after couple of years i put it on
again and fell in love with it.

i can confidently say confield is the worst album i've heard
in my entire life. no, i'm not joking, no i'm not
exaggerating, and no i can't bear to listen to it AT ALL.
you can stick it up your arse for nothing and fuck off while
you're doing it.

there's no point ever in explaining what deplores me about
it as typically i get ignored as some nutcase for not
wanting to suck sean and robs nobs.

You choose to like it, like some choose to accept Dungeons &
Dragons as their world view. You can't face the day to day
and you want to live in a world of non-existant artificial
intelligence alien cultures, except crucially it all has a
very earth bound, dodgy science fiction set of parameters.

Your imagination is a paltry fart in the void and you have
shit music taste.

what i can agree with you on is that some people that get
real into something can just go pretty fanatic about
whatever it is, and that whole fanatacism is this huge new
grid you start working with. youre adding a lot of variables
and grid-squares when you do that.

its like if i passed you up on the road and offered you
$5,000. youd ask me "why". well, what does it matter "why",
the fact is i gave you a shitton of cash, and the reason
doesn't affect the value of that quantity. it is still five
thousand dollars even if you figured out why i gave it to
you.

in the ends its a tossup man, is the music we love just
music? its kinda up to you to decide, one things for sure
and its that R. Kelly pees on children

I would be interested in hearing what deplores you about it.
:)

For me when i had heard it... it wasnt like anything else i
had heard before. It was a new sound. To me that made it
innovation and thats what made me appreciate it.

I do know that you know quite much more than music so
perhaps there is an explaination.

I am not saying its the best album or anything but i think
what they do is interesting.

I, for one, appreciate this thread. I actually like reading
stuff like this, as un-IDM as it may be.

Autechre has a wierd way of making music which is kind of
the opposite of itself, being both very personal, yet
achieving that personalness (!?) with harsh, mechanical
sounds.

Autechre is quite fine with me.

i appreciate confield and draft but it doesnt mean i enjoy
them as much as earlier stuff. they sound so experimental,
even compared with untilted. so im hoping that was a phase
and untilted is the end of that phase and now we can look
forward to more classic accessible ae with the new sounds.

That is dumb. What the composer puts into a piece and what
the listener extracts are independent from each other.

Its not like, "Autechre wants you to think of balloons when
you listen to Confield, so if you don't you are listening to
it wrong."
