ooooowcccch..
does anyone know what these mean? they're short, occasional bursts of bad stomach pain. it's not stomach ache, nor is it gastrointestinal.. it just feels like a really intense hunger pang only I'm pretty sure it's not that because I have been eating to try and get rid of it.
I thought it may be cancer from smoking, but I don't smoke very often and it seems like it'd be a lung problem anyway.
Then I thought maybe I'd gotten an injury there, but I can't remember any recent stomach injury. It's only surfaced in the last 48 hours. After today's video, it might be pinworms for all I know. A friend said it might be an ulcer from stress. Is that it? Any insight would be appreciated.

You should probably see a doctor.... it could be anything from gas to appendicitus..(sp?)
i think you'd know if your appendix was going to burst though - that hurts..

tried it, no luck :). Plus like I said, it's not that kind of an ache. It's not intestinal, it's higher up like at the top of my stomach below the esophagus.. but it's not high enough to be heartburn either.
anon: yeah I think this will probably end up in a doctor visit if it doesn't clear up within a day or two. it's very sporadic, that's why I'm hesitant to do anything about it yet.
I just wish I could nail down the cause. I just assumed I'd eaten too much the other day, but today it seems like I haven't eaten enough. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion. I'll look into it this week if it doesn't go away.

Good good ^_^
I get ''random'' Intense pains in my stomache alot....do you have any eating issues?...Like,if you don't eat ususally alot..and then you've been trying to eat in order to get rid of the ''hunger'' pangs.. you can really fuck up your stomache, and stretch it..which caines like a mother-bitch...
which is...alot.
also, if it's at that bit where it's the middle of the bottom of your rib cage...that can just be gas,I know it's not meant to be there exactly..But it can be..
Try stretching and stuff...But yeah ''if symptoms persist, please contact your GP for further advice''
hehehe
Hope you get better!

yes, I'd blame it on gas if it wasn't for the fact that it's been there for over 24 hours now.. but we'll see. That stomach stretching scnario is quite possible, I was ravenous the other day and I don't usually eat much.. maybe I overdid it.
Regardless, your testimonial is somewhat encouraging. I'm gonna try those stretches and get a snack and see how things shape up. Thanks again.. :)

Take some Imodium Advance and some tylenol, I know its diarrhea medicine but it will stop the cramping until you can figure out whats going on. It takes 30 minutes to work and when it does you will be singing praises to it. I had some crazy stomach pains a while ago and a doctor that i called told me to take it and if the pain didnt stop that I should go see him. So its sort of like a stomach first aid.

if it's sporadic it's gas
if it was an ulcer it'd be constant and if it was cancer you'd have other symptoms.

also, remember that troubles in the stomach can spread to the entire body.. if you feel simultaneous pain in your stomach and your arm, it isn't very likely to be a heart attack or anything unless you know you're prone to that.
and.. if it's high up in your abdomen.. have you eaten anything that just feels like it isn't dropping into your stomach.. like it's lying all the way up top? if so, you've got food poisoning and the pain is muscle cramps coming from the muscles simultaneously trying to keep the food out of the stomach and ejecting it through the way it entered.
as long as you don't have a fever, I don't think you need a doctor.

Beware the stomach cramps!
Sorry, private joke. Hope you get better soon. I'd see a doc; even if you're not experiencing it at the time of the appointment, they should be able to help. As Drunken Mastah says re: constant/sporadic pain, I agree with all that and also, from what people with appendix problems have told me, the pain is constant with that too.

Yeah like drunken mastah said. It could be gas or something. Imodium Advance will help with that too. Basically, Imodium Advance covers all the negligible causes of stomach pains, so if it doesnt work, you need to see a doctor right away.

it seems to have settled down after I got a bite to eat at jack in the box. maybe that's all it was.. but that doesn't explain the similar sensation yesterday. it's becoming very irregular, and rare, so maybe it's fixing itself. If it resurfaces tomorrow I'll get some immodium advance, then doctor.
thanks guys!

yeah, those do sound like the words of a hypochondriac.. hah. I don't think you can feel cancer itself, just symptoms I would think.. and those would be much more than simple stomach pains as Drunken Mastah pointed out. It's interesting how we're prone to jump to worst case scenarios like that though..

yeah, I've had stuff like that mostly my whole life.. at random points I get a whole month or more (or less) of a feeling of knives being stuck into me at certain points.. the pain is very area specific and intense, but it always passes and I don't get any other symptoms (fever, puking, blood in poop, etc), so I guess it's just gas or something. when it's on, it's not constant, but it strikes the same area.

I've had stomach pains for 4 years now. I'm a real hypochondriac about it. Feels like I'm being stabbed all over my stomach, and I get a very odd stinging sensation in the bladder/prostate/rectal area, like a small spiked ball is moving around in there. I thought it was galstones, cancer, all sorts of things. I did go to the doctor but I don't think they gave a fair examination, they pulled up my record and said I was too young to develop the harsh diseases I was attributing my symptoms too, and saw my mental records as a constant worrier. I used to go to the ER once a week begging for x-rays and catscans, sure that I was laden with cancers and tumours. I worry way too much. Most likely I just have gastral problems.
Interesting fact: One of the major physical symptoms of anxiety is stomach pains. So if you worry about your stomach, it could be the worry thats hurting it.

But it's not very consistent, comes like once a month or two, but depending on what I drink/eat/think about, it can be very harsh sometimes..

Thanks for the comments since last night, all. I'm grateful to know there are other cases of occasional pain in seemingly arbitrary areas that are worse than mine (Drunken.. :)). Like you said, Drunken mastah, there have been no other symptoms. This pain hasn't surfaced today yet, but time will tell. It's probably nothing, in fact I suspect it might be what Anus was talking about.. what with the combination of a bad diet, bad posture, etc. Plus it's the end of finals week so maybe that was contributing to it too. If it comes back at all today though, I think it might be Immodium or even doctor time. Hanal scared me (by the way, I am truly sorry to hear about your friend :( that's a sad story).
thanks again
p.s. monoid: Despite your tasteless comment, I've been trying to find you to tell you to post more pixelfunk stuff! :)
