i really like how his cd is going to be so good that it
merits a vinyl sampler!

that's practically rephlex-level absurdity

especially weird if the label was dying because of money
problems. I mean, that's not exactly a cheap option. perhaps
they think Tycho will do very well.

ppprfffffHA HA HAAAAAAA!!!

put on a BoC record.

money issues are one of many reasons that the label is
dieing, but its not just solely that. when you run a label
for a long period of time and it consumes everything you do,
you don't get a whole lot of options besides running the
label. even if you like it, it will take its toll after
awhile. merck is releasing tycho because they release music
they like. theyd shut down right now if it were just about
money

who cares if merck likes tycho? ive heard things i thought
were worse, and ive heard things i thought were loads
better. i really dont like tycho but i've heard far worse.

Tycho isn't actually that bad. Hes just derivative. I don't
see everybody hating on venetian snares, arovane, luke
vibert, richie hawtin or aphex twin for being derivative.

you're right, ofcourse - first dramatically announcing
you're ending a label and then saying you're producing a new
record by an obvious Boards of Canada-clone who's music is
at very, VERY best mediocre, is not a laughing matter at
all.

hmmyes, people have said that before. I for one can't stand
arovane, he who has autechre's buttcheeks printed firmly
across his face.

i don't get the dramatically announcing thing at all because
it wasn't that at all, but okay.

and taxidermist you're right, theres no difference here.

and that's the reason why it's not really funny to me qrter.
it just sounds like everyone picked random boc clone number
2394238 over the loads of others.

but its cool if people find it funny, no problems there.

Hmm. No need for too much sarcasm. This is the internet
after all. There is no place for that.

It just seems like everybody jumped on a bandwagon because
someone posted a link and told everybody to laugh.

I bet Tycho bought m3rck.net when merck went bankrupt and
then he just wrote his name somewhere.

In fairness though, this guy is probably the most shameless
clone I've ever seen, of anyone. His music seems pretty good
and no doubts he's got the skills but he is aping EVERY
aspect of BoC, even down to the song titles and artwork...
