I'm toying with the idea of becoming a vegan....... does that make me unsure of being insecure?
Have a great day!

I'm not vegan, but leaning towards a vegetarian. I don't eat much meat anymore and I'm starting to eat alot more organic foods. I'm pretty w/e about it, so when I went to a vegan buffet with some friends of friends, I saw how zealous the 'vegan' culture is. It was funny actually, felt like I was in some interactive movie about stereotypical hippies.
I'm glad I don't get too far into these kinds of things. I love anime but I don't go to the cons, I love nature but I don't get up at 4am and chain myself to a tree, I love healthy eating but I don't exchange facts between my vegan brethren at a buffet about how gogi berry yoghurt is great for the skin and valerian root tea revitalizes the bladder. Fucking geeks!

Cause the cow needs to be pregnant to produce milk. So not only are the cows confined to a life of child birth ALL THE TIME, the baby cow usually is tied by the ankles with rope and trapped in a small space to make veal.
There is a by product of cheese call RENNET. It is used to coagulation the cheese.
RENNET is an enzyme that is scrapped off the inside layers of a cows stomach.
YUM NACHOS!!!!
BELIEVE ME, Vegans and Vegetarians arn't throwing away the convinence of not eating meat for no good reasons. I know the stupid belief pusher left wingers can be a bother, but really it's all a very good idea.
Did anyone see that BSE documentary that David Suzuki host? Bluck!!! Cow brains. Ewwww

Vegans are either doing it for 1) health reasons, or 2) 'compassion'. Both of these are just to make themselves feel better really.
1) Health Reasons is obviously false. It's completely a psychological thing. You say "ohh I felt soo much better when I went vegan". Better than what? I feel fine all the time and I never get sick. Should I stop eating dairy and meat? No, it's not that their health is poor, it's that they are psychologically insecure and focus on their bodies too much; it's all in their head; placebo.
And you can't argue that it's the way we are meant to eat (biologically). Think of herbivores. They have multiple stomachs and stand around grazing all day. Plant matter inherently has less nutritional value and energy and is harder to digest. You can attribute your big brain and lean athletic body to the fact that we are carnivores. If you want to stand out in a field all day, be my guest.
2) I would guess most of the reasons for this is based in spiritual and religious belief, which is by definition an insecurity. Please keep in mind that 'empathy' was evolved as a way to increase the collective fitness of organisms with similar genes; i.e. other humans.

Why do you care about the dolphin? Do you know him? Does he call you at home? Do you have a dorsal fin?
To train the dolphin, you must think like the dolphin. You must be
getting inside the dolphin's head! Just yesterday I'm asking Snowflake… "Ee, eee, eee?" He said, "Eee, eee, eee, eee." And
you can quote him.
but seriously mappattazee, you are better than every vegan ever.

a) If people are ok with (themselves obviously) eating meat, then only high-faluting double standards will prevent an introduction of a human-based corollary diet. War should lead to a wholesale consumption of the other people's meat. Otherwise it's a waste of time and blood. Had people eaten one another at Dresden or Berlin... *sigh*
I would not oppose the eating of human meat (or, for example, only Algerians) - or, more precisely, I would not go bombing such people's industries, just as today I won't go bombing the various death-based industrial plants, plantations and concentration camps. So, Hannibal Lecter, vampirism, and various South American cannibal tribes are neutral in my books.
b) Genetically speaking, and you should know this folks (what with only a few percentile differences amongst thousands of species), the argument to proximity and sharedness is only valid if you consider the fact that for long people only cared about their own little clan. Civilization is nothing if not the expansion of the realm of care (to nations, continents, humanities, ecosystems). It is true that empathy has clear advantages in natural selection. That's because EVERYTHING does. The good and bad, Hitler and Elvis. Natural selection has no moral standards, merely survival. Natural selection doesn't "tend towards" anything (not brutal, caring or beautiful), since it is perfectly objective a measure. Thus, various "green" methodologies are nothing but methodologies of survival, and apt ones at that - which is proven by their popularity.
c) Health is a side issue for most (except petty bourgeois wanna-be assholes), but a case can be made for such a diet's healthiness - or, more precisely, at an average carnivorous diet's unhealthiness. Negation of toxicity (carcinogens, saturated fats, excessive protein intake, excessive carb intake) can lead to a better regulated metabolism just by itself. Not to forget the essential vitamins, minerals and oils that one comes to appreciate on the way. Choose well.

Mappatazee, you are right it is a psychological choice.
"Health Reasons is obviously false." The health benefits inherent to being Vegan or Vegetarian are surprisingly very high in number. There are numerous articles to be found on the internet for you to read opposing your thoughts. Let them be the one to burst your bubble not me ļ
The issue of "people being vegan for health issues" isn't as ridicules as you may think; you can easily find disorders that prohibit a person to cut meat out of their diet. In fact
You would be surprised with the amount of people that where not eating meat IS a physical choice.
BUT on the other sides of the coin, if you lack the IRON and PROTIEN needed to ¡Kwell ¡K LIVE, then you are fucked. And guess where Iron and Protein are found? Not in celery. There are health issues that come along with being vegan as well.
You are right it is a psychological choice.
