Sooooooo the good ol' b-day is coming up here in about a
week and im lookin for a present to ask for. im in a
electronic/indie/ambient band and im looking for a
synth/program that will give me the best options for making
this kind of music. i use a guitar along with a Boss ME-50
guitar distorion pedal so i can have all the freaky effects.
I have been looking for some synths that are like 500 or
under and NEW, i dont want old synth's from the 80's etc. I
have been looking at the Micro Korg and the Micron as well
as some programs from Zero-G such as "Nostalgia" and
"Outerlimits". Both of the Zero-G products seem to be more
geared twords what im am doing and i can get both of those
for about 400 bucks where as the Micro Korg and Micron are
400 themselfs. I was wondering if you guys have any other
suggestions for synths/programs within my budget and would
fit my musical style. if i dont hear back im most likely
gonna go with the two software synth's but if someone
persuades me otherwise....

Wait until Theo Himself's tracks leak, steal them, make a
fortune, never worry about making music yourself again.

micro korg" and im like "the micron has a vocoder" and hes
like "there is?! ive had it for almost a year and i didnt
know that" thats when i hang up and call a different guitar
center.

I don't quite understand what you want.. I haven't really
heard of any "special" synths for
electronicindieambientbands nor for any other genre of music
for that matter... get the synth that makes the sound you
feel you need.

basicially its this delimma

i have roughly 500 dollars

i can get:

Micron
Micro Korg
Reason
Reaktor
ORRRRRRRRRRRRRRr
the two zero-g soft synths

BUT they need to suit the ambient/indie/electronica genere.
this shits is crazy cuz im gonna throw all kinds of stuff
into this music so i need a versatile synth to deal with.

1: go to shop
2: try micron, micro korg, reason & reaktor
3: find out which one suits your needs
4: buy

you should ask DJ Ableton next time he's online. He's got
both the skillz and the knowledge about stuff like this

i say fuck it ill just buy the two zero-g soft synths. the
micron or micro korg dont seem versatile enough for what im
needing.

dude you've asked exactly the same question in another
thread that is of the same subject.
you're asking a very ambiguous question, one which will
receive a different answer from different people. if i were
you i'd just listen to some gear (software or hardware) and
make the decision yourself.
it's all a matter of individual preference and circumstance.
