how about doing an xltvibes with members interpretations of
different jazz standards? I think it could turn out quite
good, actually...

you don't have to actually play it out on a piano; since
you're interpreting them you can use your own methods...

jazz and funk?

maybe some songs can have a collaboration, like someone
makes a bassline loop the the final composer takes all
different things to create a song, with elements from lots
of people :)

btw how is that Phobia's "beatbox" vibes/project going ? i
need to mouth a track for that one.

a jazz song interpretation is quite a challenge. but it's
NOT impossible for xlt peoples.

"The chromatically altered notes in the melody over V7 and
vii˚7 chords tend to give the “A” section a
mysterious, quasi-Oriental sound, and the slow harmonic
rhythm gives the inexperienced improviser an opportunity to
work on ideas in a single key over several measures (the D7
and Eb˚7 chord both serve the same function, as the
latter is identical to D7(b9) without the root). The
harmonic progression of the “B” section, in contrast,
should be very familiar to anyone familiar with “Sweet
Georgia Brown,” as it uses a “circle of fifths” in an
almost identical fashion"

this is gonna be one hell of a challenge

I don't know how easy sheet music is to get a hold of, but
doing it by ear often works fine and otherwise there are
probably a few tabs floating around...

I have no idea since this was only a suggestion, but if
you've made something, I'd love to hear it... however, if it
becomes a vibe it'd also probably be nice to hear it in the
setting or something...

oh, btw.. I would probably be able to provide quite a few
scores/sheet music for the different standards if people
would really be interested in doing this...
