South Park was to show a picture of Muhammed tonight.
Comedy Central wouldn't let them.
Discuss.

apparently muhammed is far more sacred than jesus or any
other religious savior. you'll get beheaded if you start
talkin' shit bout da ma' hammed.

fuckin a, i missed the episode tonight :(

btw its not against christianity to have images of jesus -
hell, thats half of the fucking religion

on the other hand, there is a statement in islam that you
are not allowed to portray images of muhammed.

but im sure you know that.

*takes one more whack at that deceased horse*

didn't they already picture muhammed in an episode together
with krishna, jesus and seaman? this one

If I remember correctly muhammed was the one with the
ability to throw fireballs

I can't remember anyone making a fuss about that

yeah, i remember that one!

they take the piss out of religion so much though, im
suprised it hasnt already been banned. it is america, of
course.

wasnt Chef's voice guy quitting because he was a
scientologist?

yeah, the episode 'super best friends' (my personal favorite
south park ever) is where they have the members of all
religions working together, including muhammed who does
indeed have 'the power of flame'

and yes, isaac hayes is a scientologist and 'quit' because
of the 'trapped in the closet' episode, although there is
some controversy over wether it was concentual or not,
because isaac was quite prevolent in saying that matt and
trey were doing an important thing by challenging different
religions up until that episode.

'we shoudlnt be mad at chef - we should be mad at that
fruity little club for scrambling his brain.'

Actually, the Bible states No Graven Images to use in
worship of God.

Christians, and especially catholics, like to pick and
choose and sometimes fabricate things from the bible to
suite their purposes.

"Thou shalt have no other gods before my face. Thou shalt
not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of
anything that is in the heaven above, or that is in the
earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou
shalt not bow down thyself to them nor serve them..."

Exodus 20:3-5

Muslims are basically worshiping the same God as the Jews
and Christians. They are all derivative of Abraham and his
offspring. The Musilims being from the black slave mother.

It's really stunning how much the Catholic religion
completely flouts the laws in the bible. It's almost
comical.

the thing is, jesus wasnt in the heavens or below the earth.
we was ON earth.

and those fucking evangelists - going on about "the love of
jesus" and "the grace of our lord" and how jesus said to
"forgive and love" and simultaneously saying that gays,
mormons, socialists etc. are evil.

theres probably a southpark episode about them too. i dont
watch it enough!

yeah, the problem is jesus was a great guy, its just
assholes who interperet his messages that piss me off.

up until a month ago i couldnt give two shits about mr.
jesus h christ, but after i read tom robbins' 'another
roadside attratction' i have felt this innate love for the
man, its really something special.

and i dont have an ounce of christian blood in me (well
maybe an ounce, but who can be sure these days? :P)

It's funny that you never see this headline:

15000 atheists in London rioted after a blank sheet of paper
was found on a cartoonist's desk.

discuss.

well, he did say many things that, if taken (ugh, I
hate this word.. there's no such thing) "literally" can be
pretty harsh...

Actually he didn't write the letter to the staff about him
quitting, some of his scientologist friends did. But it was
too late, they killed off chef (haven't seen the episode) so
he may come back or already has come back. I don't have
proof of this, a friend told me, and said it was reliable
information. So take it for what it is.

it was really pathetic that they had to devote two episodes
to feebly putting down the competition. parker and stone
are completely out of decent ideas and this new episode is
like a nerdy kid crying on the playground.

they should really stop making the show, because it's gotten
just plain sad at this point.

Who knows what Jesus said? I know I wasn't there and I am
unable to verify the words put into his mouth in the New
Testement or the Apocrypha

how about, "a group of atheists committed genocide in
cambodia, china, and russia in an effort to impose their
world view on everyone else?"

maybe you've seen these headlines?

i don't watch this show, but your little observation raises
a very interesting point. it's obviously not the content
but public awareness that raises contraversy. ironic that
in this case awareness invokes ignorance. or something.

The episodes primary focus wasn't to make fun of family guy,
in fact, in the way family guy is portrayed, they are
comparing themselves to family guy.

They also make fun of themselves a lot ("At least family guy
doesnt get all preachy and lose its sense of humor" or
something like that)

family guy of course. it recently came back on the air.
their little jokes seemed like thinly-veiled, "stop it, you
big meanie i hate you"

They weren't anti-family guy. If you pay attention they only
people who 'talked shit' about family guy were the
terrorists and cartman.

"it's just joke after joke, and sometimes i like that."

to be honest, the whole cut-scene bit in family guy is
getting a bit old, and ive always found my favorite episodes
to be those which keep it to a minimum, epitomized by road
to europe, my absolute top episode, which doesnt have a
single 'hey, remember that time when....' gag.

and for an example from the recent seasons, watch petarded,
which is quite minimalistic in its use of cut-scenes, and
includes probably the best one ever (the fire trucks).
