gave it a good blast home

yeah, what can i say.

i still admit it's better than 99.99+ % of what's out
there.

the drill tracks, why don't you like them; im curious.

i still don't understand the complete lack of appreciation
for this album

im glad this guy isn't human, because i sure as shit
wouldn't feel comfortable giving any "guy" this much credit
and appreciation.

oh, and on a more serious note,
i think melthphace 6 took over as my favorite track of all
time (finally, over the long and great, vordhosbn).

so good.

sooo soooo god damn good.

just, wow.

You could just hear that he seemed bored. Doing what he
knows will make his fanbase happy and sell records. Most of
the fans are pleased, so I guess it did what it was supposed
to do.

I've never gotten into drukqs as much as most of RDJ's other
stuff. It's just too "clanky" overall, or something. There
are some stand out tracks of course and when i've heard them
in DJ sets they're great.. mt micheal, melthphace, vordhosbn
and some piano tracks.

i actually agree with what most reviewers of chosen lords
are saying and much perfer this newer stuff. I think they
hit it spot on in drukqs in fact. CL is back to form and
will fit nicely beside HAB, SAW and the rest.....

druqks = good album. vordhosbn, meltphace and st.michel's
are the best.

drukqs = awesome album. after listening to heaps of doll
doll doll and find candace and such, i listened to 54 Cymrv
Beats and it sounded heaps different. awesome. different..
dunno if its better or worse compared to when drukqs was my
most listened to album...

it still is my favourite album, full of the best tracks.

on the contrary, i think he did what pleased him a the time
(druqks span at least 5-7 years of material if i remember
well) of the song's creation
imo the problem is the sequencing and "similarity" of the
drill songs in sound, and it's probably done on purpose,
that's what probably makes it a bit indigest to many
but no way did he do "what the fans wants", i doubt he ever
has... =)

I agree, I doubt it was 30 tracks for cash. I always thought
that he may have put more effort into drukqs than most
releases, thats how it sounds to me, and it may also be why
the album does not have a strong sense of continuity and can
sound "clanky".

Fight the power.

Not exactly... what I mean is he compiled what he knew would
sell records. Retired, running out of money, yada yada,
release album.

Anyways, all I say is, it feels uninsprired. Not nearly as
fun or playfull as care because you do, rdj album,
windowlicker, and not nearly as complete sounding as
anything else.

But people are going to dissagree. Its all about taste.

i agree that it doesn't sound complete in terms of an album,
so i just think you have to treat it as an art piece or a
deliberate side step from his known sound/agenda.

yes it's all about taste and opinion.

to me, drukqs sounds like it is one of his most ambitious
albums. perhaps even a creative peak in his career, along
with saw2. 2 cd's jampacked with epic beat-magic and a
couple of piano noodles. the longer tracks sound like
there's lots of energy were put into them. i wouldn't call
that uninspired.

Yeah. But did he need to make it so fucking long? It might
have held itself better as two releases, or just a one cd
with less filler.

yep, it's all about taste
but i think it all comes down to the difference between what
a man aged 20 composes vs a 30 years old =)
and to make money i think live shows/dj acts earn him far
more money than selling albums :p

i haven't listened to it in a long time, it used to be my
favourite but now im not so sure anymore, not that it
matters..i was listening to bunch of his music all afternoon
the other day and it's quite unbelivable how much awesome
music this guy produced..the thing i appreciate the most is
that all tracks seem so different i don't get bored even
after listening to his music for 5 hours straight or so. the
thing with plenty new music producers is you usually get
bored when you come to the 3rd track because they all sound
basically the same. it's different with pldschool artists
though, they have that certain thing about their music that
makes it sound interesting all the way through.

I love this album. It still baffles me how much energy,
time, and pure genius went into some of the maddest
compositions. The way they shift into new parts constantly,
every second is fresh. I can't even fathom how some people
don't like this album. This is my opinion.

incomplete, I think its put together perfectly even if it is
bipolar, and the tracks are so intense in a way that he
hasn't done since the Caustic Window stuff and a few tracks

Still the best album of all time.

And just for future reference, the idea to do it with
classical musicians, and even remix some of them then, was
MY IDEA.
I came up with it years ago. ACOUSTICA WAS MY IDEA.

not that i'm bitter or anything.

another one of my ideas was to compare Wu Tang Clan to
Chaucer and do a piece melding the two drawing parralels,
and eventually take it to the stage. And some cunt in
America beat me to it, too much critical acclaim. BUT I HAD
THE IDEA FIRST!

not that i'm bitter or anything...

And the new things in Supermarkets where you can scan and
pay for your own goods, you know who came up with that
first? ME THAT'S WHO!

not that i'm bitter...

I haven't listened to drukQs as a whole album for ages,
mainly for the fact that i have lost the CD. Which upsets me
because it was one of my 'pre-orders' from Warp Mart.

Oh it is gorgeous. I do love it. I have been getting into
the other albums as of late though. RDJ is a bit like a
dreamy hunk at an American high-school, you just want to
kiss it and touch it's hole.

drukqs is a masterpiece, top 5 album in any genre. yeah i
could lose a piano track or two here and there, but the
finest drum programming to date from any artist (i'm talking
to you vsnares) and just unbelievably original and
satisfying aphex melodies. it's a grower, and i agree with
elusive that you have to listen to the 45s at 33 (or slow it
down digitally, not nearly as fun) to fully appreciate the
effort. there is detail happening that is too minute to
notice at full speed, quite beautiful syncopation and so
forth hidden in the tracks. brilliant work.

Yes, as we all know musical taste is 100% subjective. So
regardless of what anyone thinks, noone should give a fuck,
and just be contempt with their own smug opinion.

That being said, now its my turn. the album in question is
probably my favorite album of all time. It introduced me to
electronica... and totally blew my head apart... So in that
regard i have alot of respect and admiration for it,

Midi Recieved.

Elusive, you've posted drukqs slowed down? Can you do it
again?
I like drukqs, it's like a guitar solo. Very technical. My
only grip is it sounds too brittle. It's definetly for the
die hard aphex fan too. I couldn't play it for anyone I know
in real life. Most would cover their ears on the beat
tracks.

I don't see drukqs on your site elusive. Where it be?

I think fenix funk negated any need for me to listen to
drukqs. Well, kinda. Unless I want to hear that brittleness.
It's sorta mental in a way that analord doesn't have. Have
you guys read that post Rich left at the planet-mu message

seems to disdain digital mixing and digital synths.
