[OT] Ebay sniping

The stupid sales manager for the company I work for hasn't
been able to work out why he keeps geeting beaten on ebay
auctions by $2.50 with 5 seconds to go.......... the fool.

I've told him about sniping software, but because I don't
really use ebay (no money) I don't have any recomendations
for him.

Anyone care to suggest any free apps to help the moron out.

He's trying to buy me cheap lab equipment at the moment, so
in a way it will help me (god forbid we buy new
equipment.... tight-arses)

Another decent freeware for this purpose is "JBidWatcher".

Update..........

He used Auction Sentry.
It worked.
He was amazed.
I now have a second-hand, 20L Hobart mixer at my disposal.

thats funny. on a music message board, your mixer would
seem to be some kind of dj'ing tool. but it's like a huge
bowl for mixing 20 liters of goop right?

It is a goop mixer!

The goop-mixer of goop-mixers!

I don't see how a sniping program is any better than just
timing your last bid to 2 seconds before the clock runs out,
making sure you are $50 over the last bid. I guess if you
aren't going to be on ebay when the auction ends..

But otherwise, don't the sniper softwares bid 5 seconds
before the end of auction?

Isn't it the timing issue..... hard to synchronise clocks?
I don't really know though, as I said, I don't use ebay

I just hit refresh until I have about 30 secs to go then
make my last bid. By the time you put in the new bid and
hit submit, it's pretty close to the wire. Usually I'm the
one being sniped, though, so it's in self defense.
