I get most of my good ideas at night, but what happened tonight I can't excuse. I took a three-hour nap this afternoon cause I was bored, then stayed up till 2am. Tried to go to sleep, failed. Then I went to sleep at 3am and had two nightmares in succession, while in sleep, and then woke up at 4am. Wide awake. Not tired.
Do I have a problem? This is the first time this has happened in quite a while. But I'm having times in the morning where I really don't wanna get out of bed, and I try to wake up but can't be bothered. It has caused me to miss class.
Does anyone here suffer from sleeping disorders? I haven't been to a doctor in 10 years, and never been to a psychologist. Should I be concerned?

I have that problem too. One of the strange psychological problems I have and still don't understand is that whenever I get tired (around 7-9am) I feel the need to expell any last bit of energy by doing something drastic like staying up even longer, busing around the city, visiting friends, etc. I just can't seem to submit to my bed when I know I should. Makes reality really fucked up too. And yeh, I get creative ideas too when I stay up like that. But they're ideas I think are fucked up shit when I'm of sound mind.

I had insomnia a while back, but one of those mega headache pills cured that...
also, if you want to get tired, do something physical.. call your friends and go out and play some football or something.
cut back on the coffee.. don't drink anything with caffeine, in fact...
seeing the sun is important.. get sunlight on your eyes/body so that your body actually registers the fact that it has been day
get away from the computer. it may seem like you're awake and active, but you're just sitting there.

thanks for the advice, i'll try that. i'm also going to try to quit cigarettes again - stimulants likely aren't helping.

I'm a night person. I want to be a morning person. So it's a constant battle. I tend to stay up later and later. Next thing I know it's gotten totally out of hand.

I usually go to bed between 4:00 and 6:00 am, and wake up between 12:00 an 12:30 everyday. I work nights. My bed is also a complete piece of shit, and, even though the couch downstairs is also a piece of shit, I sleep on it from time to time as a hiatus from my actual piece of shit bed.

what I was trying to say was that, I have a strange sleep schedule, and I don't really consider it a disorder. As long as you get 6-8 hours of sleep, you should be okay. If you miss a night of sleep, your body will eventually catch up by making you more tired. If you don't get tired, then, well, you've got insomnia. :D
Oh, and I've never had a bad dream from staying up late. So I can't be of service on that matter.
