[DIN SYNC / MIDI] lag?

hello people

in the next few months i'm going to be looking into getting
something like the Kenton Pro 2000 so i can control my 303
through it, and also hook up my drum machines via the DIN
Sync port to get them tempo matched to my MIDI setup.

however i've read a couple of things online that make me a
little scared. some people report of a lag issue when using
such a system, whereby the equipment being slaved to the DIN
Sync master starts ever so slightly later than the rest of
the system. i found this which claims to assist in
getting everything sync'd ok, but i was just wondering if
anyone on here had any experience with slaving your old DIN
Sync equipment up to a modern MIDI setup. i dunno whether
it'd be worth my while getting this innerclock thing if it's
not really necessary.

the way i'm gonna be using it all is specifically my 303,
606 and my 808 (when i get it) so i really could do with the
timing to be solid.

any help would be greatly appreciated guys

thanks :D

I havent had any problems syncing ableton and a 606 with my
707 as master.

so your 606 has been rock solid tight? :) it's not drifted
at all through the track?

sorry to be really idiosyncratic with this but it's
something that is worrying me a bit, especially since i plan
on using this stuff out in a live situation where i need
everything to be solid for long periods of time

well they stayed in sync for as long as I kept fumbling with
them. only instance when they drift is when I accidentally
touched the cable used to sync the drumatix (the 707
midi/sync outs are in a bit of a state on mine)

ahhh righto

i guess i'll have to test it out when i can eventually get
hold of a kenton thingy. i'm hoping i wont have to get that
thingy from innerclock because it's yet another piece of
equipment that's costing me money, yet more cables etc.

i know i'm probably gonna need a DIN Sync splitter box
though as the Kenton Pro 2000 only has one DIN Sync output

I thought you had the midi retrofit on your 303?

nope, i've got the Kenton 5 socket CV/Gate kit on there, so
i can use it in conjunction with a Kenton Pro Solo or Kenton
Pro 2000. my initial plan is to use the Pro 2000 and
automate filter cutoff with my sequencer :)

Going via din from my midi source my 606 drifts out when I
change the rhythm a few times, but if I stop and start it,
it's tight again.

I use the din sync out on my drumstation to sync the 303 or
606 and it's always ok.

Here's a question for the real tech/gear genius...

Which sync box/machine has the most 5-pin DIN SYNC outputs.
What holds the record?
Several have 2. I have seen one with 3.
Does anyone know one piece of kit that can send out a bunch
of roland sync simultaneously to different machines? like 5
or 6 or 8...
(not talking midi here people, just x0x style sync)

I can't believe nobody ever made an interface to take a
clock/midi/sync input and output tons of sync so we can
connect up all our roland kit easily. My bet is on JL
Cooper, they made tons of great boxes back in the day, so
I've read.

Why should anyone care anyway, cheerio!
