You seem to think that people who want to kill millions of people need to be grouped separately according to their motives. are you fucking kidding me? Would it have made you feel better if I said he reminded me of someone who desired>/i> to kill millions of innocents rather than someone who actually had? I think any person, regardless of nationality, race, creed/motives etc., that wants to kill innocent people should kill themselves. I don't expect you to feel the same way.

this 'genocide' is already happening. a handful of rich nations will survive by exploiting dwindling resources leaving the rest of the world to die of starvation and disease.
being evil isn't so bad as long if it means we can keep our stomachs full and our internets connected.

"Professor Pianka said the Earth as we know it will not survive without drastic measures. Then, and without presenting any data to justify this number, he asserted that the only feasible solution to saving the Earth is to reduce the population to 10 percent of the present number. "
I`m sure EARTH will hold her own little press conference when she has had enough of us, not a Walmart Jerry Garcia making some BOLD STATEMENT as a cop out for a little science prestige.
This is so typical. "Since history has proven that OUTRAGEOUS thinkers were ostracized during their life, later to be immortalized for their achievements tested by current knowledge (which prevails over the incorrect knowledge of
the past) I guess I better back this guy up cause he is a head of his time."
Reminds me of the first days of ANALORD...
"Professor Oxygenfad said that eating babies is the only answer to 3rd world starvation was then followed by an enthusiastic and prolonged standing ovation ..."

It doesn't work like that in ecology. If you kill off the bees that pollinate flowering plants, dogs in bee suits don't step up to fill the gap.

But yeah. Thats it. Nature is in constant ballance. When something else is removed, something else moves in. Seriously. Say rats get eliminated, then cockroaches move in.

I am 99% on the way towards genetically engineering dogs in bee-suits to step up once the bees die.. I just have to tweak away some last minor errors like the fact that they produce cheese in their cocks and the fact that they are smarter than humans.

My god that's just retarded to think it would constantly work that way.. unless living on a different planet altogether is what you want (by this i mean worse than it already is). Our eco system is much more fragile than that, unless you wish to live with only insects, and have to feed on them.
You guys should check out this great doc i saw on what caused the slow degradation of Yellowstone park (i think that's the one) and how it's got back on track again lately. Wolves i kid you not. It went very far in explaining it all.. even how certain big bird species disappeared as there was no more carcasses to feed on, and the soil rapidely got worse as it wasn't getting fed what it used to, the vegetation changed wich led to certain species the herbivores were eating to dissapear, hence some of those dissapearing, even less pooh, etc etc.. in the end they linked it all with the mass extermination of wolves early last century... same time the whole park started to slowly change (for the worse, unless the idea of mostly desert land with a few insects and small mammals sounds better to you than a thriving park full of life).
So what came in for the wolf here after we killed them all, tigers?
Anyway my point being that YES life would go on, and that NO it's not great to whipe out whole species, as life might continue going on here but with less and less variety, causing mass chain reactions with every extinction.
Yeah super, cockroaches will probably outlive humans... we'll wipe ourselves out if nature doesn't, thing is we seem to what to take everything down with us, as if we owned the place.

I saw something very similar on a CBC nature show... the evergreen forests in British Columbia are dependent on bears catching salmon in the rivers and leaving their half eaten carcasses to rot in the woods. Kill or drive off the bears and/or catch too much salmon for human consumption and it impoverishes the soil which of course has far-reaching effects on the ecosystem.
