I been fairly interested in this for a little bit of time now, i want to start something up. It could be a nice relaxing hobby! I was kind of interested, if anybody on this board did this, and if they can give some hints? Basicly, i live in a small apartment, how can i make this possible? I read somewhere, that you can have some plants in a closet? Please share in this thread, anything you have to say about this subject :)

if i remember correctly, plenty of light and sunshine is actually the best for the plant, rather than darkness. in fact it thrives in sunny but not scorching climates. if it werent illegal, where i live (malta) is ideal for growing it.

My only possibility is like, a closet setup. My plan is: 1:Get some killer weed that i really love 2: Get the seeds out and put in a wet towel until they "burst"
3: plant these in small cups 4: In a closet 5: In fertiliser, low acid 6: constant artificial flourocent light and lots of water
But, my problem is, how do i dry it and smoke it? should i just pick the leaves, dry them in a glass jar, and mix them up with tobacco?

Plan a trip to Holland and visit a growshop with about €400.-, they'll give you the best advise how to grow. Then you need to find seeds or even better, try to get sprigs.
I guess it's legal to take the equipment with you across the border.. and illegal to take sprigs with you across the border.
Be sure to use a carbonfilter to prevent getting caught by the smell of it.

Go with envirolite fluorescents and don't use constant light! It'll fuck up your veg/flower period. Depends on the variety you're growing (if it's just bagseed you won't know, i suppose), but it's usually 24hr light for veg, 12/12 light/darkness for flowering. You want the "flowers" (buds) for smoking, not the leaf. Don't worry about drying/curing until your cupboard's stinking the house out.
I mean, you can get something green and vaguely smokeable for little effort, it's a weed innit. If you want something nice you have to do a bit of research, google is your friend.

Well, i heard i need some good "seeds", but cant i just buy some weed, and pick out the seeds and plant those? Ok, good tips on the lighting.
I'm used to smoking semi good stuff. I just want a little production for myself and my friends. I only smoke once every 2 weeks (maximum)
Also, i'm sort of worried about having a heated light, in a small closet when i'm not present? Whats a good setup? i really need a sort of "growing weed for dummies" handbook.

If there's a decent headshop in your area, chances are it'll have some sort of grow guide. :) I'd recommend getting yourseeds here, the feminised strains are a good investment so you don't get a load of males pollinating your crop. Dutch passion and soma do good ones but avoid nirvana, they're known for having crap genetics.
Envirolites are good for small environments, they stay cool (no fire risk) and put out a lot of light for the price. Much better than the massive sodium setups you see in proper growrooms.

you can find this information easily on the web. if you're willing to accept the risks, which are manageable if you're smart, it can work out very well. it's too complicated to explain everything you need, but you absolutely have to know what you're doing to get good results. you might also look in alternative bookstores for info. most importantly, you have to have lights that you can control with a timer, you have to be able to insure hours-long periods of total darkness, you have to control the build up of heat (if this isn't possible, consider fluorescent lights; you'll compromise in aesthetics, but you can still grow very good weed), you need to bring in a supply of fresh air, and you'll have to control the strong smell. there are, of course, lots of other important details. it's easy *if you know what you're doing in advance*. do your research first.
i have lots of advice but it's beyond the scope of a message board. instead consider getting a good reference guide like "ask ed."

remember, you're growing cannabis for the female flowers, not the leaves or male flowers. the level of production you need at the rate you're smoking is easily doable, but it will take approximately six months or so for a decent payoff. my final piece of advice is proceed with caution and patience.

the most important thing is to get a good lamp. preferably a HSP lamp, which gives lots of light in the right spectrum and provides little heat, which is a good thing if you plan to grow in a closet. get a timer for the flowering.

you're going to need Metal Halide or High Pressure Sodium lights. It's best if you find a way to make the height of the lights scalable, so that you can raise them as the plants grow (if need be). I think someone else mentioned that you're going to need a strict 12 hour light/12 hour dark schedule for them to yeild properly. To be honest it's probably not the best choice of plants to grow if you're looking for something relaxing, unless of course you don't mind a poor yeild (or no yeild at all). :) Once the plants are budding and it comes time to cut them, you'll need to cut them off in big stalks to hang them upside-down to cure. this causes all the resin in the plent to run downward towards the top of the plant, making the buds at the very tip the most saturated (read: best). This certainly is not all there is to it, but it's as much of a response as I am prepared to type right now.

oh I forgot to mention, you might want to have a shack on the wilderness somewhere for when you cure it, becuase it's going to smell more potent then you'd expect. (you can smell it through walls, etc.)

I don't mean to be mr weedy-weedy-know-it-all, but MH or HPS lights in a closet-sized space are a right pain in the arse. Too hot, too expensive, too much hassle to ventilate, they're just overkill unless you're keeping a proper (10+ plants at least) growroom.
You're right about the curing though, it will reek like fuck. If a deserted wilderness shack isn't an option, something like an ionizer might do the job. Carbon filter = good idea also.

Disturbing how much knowledge people on this board has on the subject :)
But i really appreciate the info. I live in Denmark, Hash is illegal, but the law isnt that harsh. its only fines for small possesions, so unless i become the great dope dealer, i'm not to concerned about that.
I know, the ideal thing would be having a house, for more space and such. but that will have to wait a couple of years.
Maybe do like these guys

OVERGROW.COM
Personally I wouldn't recommend growing in an apartment building. However there are ways around it. Try searching overgrow for this thing called the monolith. Apparently its an incredibly stealthy device for growing weed and they tell you how to make it yourself. Good luck!

I don't consider you a snooty mr. know-it-all. Why should I? just because you know a little more about it than me doesn't make you a know-it all. :) But yeah, I suppose your probably right, multiple MH or HPS lights would be far too much for a standard closet-setup, though, closets do come in different sizes (walk-ins :)) though I have a friend who used 1 HPS light and it worked the trick for like 6 plants all arranged in a circle. Until they got too big, and then I think some of them died. But yeah, it was a secret set-up in the attic over his garage, so the heat wasn't too much of a problem. He did, however, leave the attic door open at times so that air could vent. I'm not sure if it was by necessity or choice.
