I have also said that Warp should stick to electronic music,
but the Maximo Park album is fucking good, so why noy

Maximo park must be bringing Warp loads of cash. they
probably just signed them for the money, since they are a
more conventional band=more popular

it is kind of strange though - almost all young 'n hip
British bands these days have the dumbest haircuts.

I've nothing against warp releasing non-electronica. TLS'
"From the Double Gone Chapel", for example, is excellent and
a worthy edition to their catalogue.

However, the signing of Maximo Park seems to be a carefully
calculated attempt to win over hipsters and the last dregs
of the Radiohead fans who still haven't realised Aphex et al
do IDM an awful lot better than Mr. Yorke and co.

theyre top lads, and more than capable of developing their
current pop sound into something much more. it was MP that
chose warp - a lot of other (bigger) labels wanted them.
musically they know their shit - i doubt you'd find much
detroit techno/cologne electronica/rephlex acid etc playing
on the tourbus of someone like the kaiser chiefs/artic
monkeys etc

lukas (the keyboardist, also guilty of trendy haircut) is
dj'ing at soviet on friday (guest Seed Dj) and plays
keys on a couple of the tracks on the new Posthuman album
too.
