...im a little late in posting this, but it's on until the
8th of april:

a group show with a huge number of contributors at
the Spencer Brownstone Gallery, organized by Tim Barber.

being in victoria, i have not seen it myself, but from
photos of the installation, it looks pretty amazing.

is anyone in new york?

I actually just flew back home from NYC tonight... stayed
there a week at a friends place in Brooklyn.. Had the time
of my life. Didn't see those installations but saw a couple
others as well as the MoMA and Metropolitain Museum of Art.
Cool stuff.

while we're on the subject, has anyone in NYC heard of
smoking cigarrettes on the brooklyn bridge? Some huge dude
with dreds threatened to beat the shit out of my friend and
I because we were smoking cigs on the walk up to the
bridge... it was a very strange experience to which we got
no explanation from our friends who lived in NYC.

haha! a crack head?

i dunno but i heard that smoking is not permited in public
places in california. but nyc..? hmm! and especially on the
bridge, blows like a mf on there..

well it was really strange.... we were making our way up to
the bridge and this first guy looks at the cigarettes and
then at us and has this look on his face like "okay, if you
know what you're doing" and then a dude like 2 mins after
that is the one who started shit saying he should knock us
out and bullshit like that, and as he walked away he was
like "smokin cigs on here, I HOPE you all make it" and we're
like "make it?? like across the bridge?" so we finished our
cigarettes before getting on the bridge, but while we were
on there we saw a dude smoking a cig and no one seemed to
notice or care... and as you said the wind was blowing
upwards of 30 miles an hour up there so I don't think anyone
had to breathe much of it in... it was really a bizarre
situation and both of the people who had a problem with it
were black, not that it matters to me, but it seemed like
some sort of reverse racism to the effect of: "we dont like
no whiteys smoking on our bridge."

hmm. sounds mighty strange.. i'll google around and see what
could be the reason for them to diss you smoking like that.
i'll get back in to you in this thread! investigation mode
on.

ok, thanks man I appreciate your interest in solving my
puzzling encounter. :) I think one of my friends from NY
actually did google it to see if he could find anything, but
I could be mistaken.

I want to go to nyc and stay at the chelsea for a couple
days. Alone. I like travelling alone sometimes. Just walk
around and soak in the place.

hey another thing... the scale is really strange in those
pictures, it seems way smaller than it is
look at it empty - how tall do you think somone
standing would look?

is it just me that finds that interesting?

:P I realized after I said that how racist it must make me
look. I didn't mean it like that, but that is essentially
the vibe we got from those two dudes.

chambre: we were just wearing coats/hoodies that had no
words on them at all, let alone anything that some groups
may find offensive. The only thing I could think of that
might make sense is that lots of people jog or bike-ride up
there, so maybe it has some unwritten rule of being for the
health/excercise fanatics... except that the two people who
were put off by it weren't in any kind of exercise get-up...
more like thug/bum attire.
