Do you use a trackpad thing instead of a mouse by choice?

i guess so.
ive got an intellimouse optical lying somewhere around, but the trackpad is so little on an inconvenience i rarely bust it out.
my main problem is hitting the pad as im typing so i move the cursor like 2 lines up and start typing into the middle on another sentence.

what do you think about the dave smith evolver? what kind of sound bending tools does it offer you?
so... you just plug a midi keyboard into it and start tweaking the box?
i'm curious about that little blue box you have in your picture

Its amazing. Seriously, its the only piece of gear that I can think of that you can make sounds that range from classic vintage polysynth (even tho its a monosynth, no less!), to 303, to full springy IDM bassdrop to c64 chiptune pad with only the twist of a couple knobs. The sequencer is phenomenal. You can sequence practically any parameter, including LFO frequency, and main tempo. And the lfo can be routed to every parameter, including the rate of another lfo. As well, not only do you get four tracks to sequence with at once, you can also set your digital oscilator's waveforms to be sequenced through the sequencer, as well as selecting the different sequencer channels as a modulation source.
So you could in theory, granted that you understand your evolver well enough, sequence all four oscilator frequencies, both your filters resonance AND cutoff, your delay rate and feedback for both left and right channels, digital feedback distortion, tempo and your lfo's, both your digital oscilators running across various different waveforms to generate, and have modulation routings left over to controll the amplitude and distortion on a guitar that is triggering the sequencer.
Altho I have to say, it takes a little while for you to get the feel for what it can do (it all ends up sounding like videogame chiptunes stuff at first), but it really has set the bar higher for synthesis in general (especially when it costs half of what a lot of lesser sounding synthesizers are being asked for).

what i want to do is route all CVs from my nord modular g2 into something like that... then from there, into my powerbook, then slice and dice the samples on the computer, route it back out from the computer to a hardware sampler and then finally back into the computer
whilst changing all the parameters of the instruments i'm dealing with.
