i just got this in the mail. its a stepsequencing cart for
gameboys. does anyone know if the original dotmatrix
gameboy sound is better than the ones that came after? or
does it really matter? its just hard to see it in the unlit
screen.

The different nanoloop versions are actually designed to
interface with different models of gameboy, trying to get
the best of what the various soundchips have to offer. They
will all work in all the different gameboys, but I think
v1.** is designed for the traditional grey gameboys, and the
v2.** is designed for the gameboy advance.

I believe Dozer knows about nanoloop so bump for him or
search for the thread he did a few weeks ago.

I think 1.3 doesn't work on all gameboys after Advance SP,
and I remember hearing that the non-SP advance has a shit
sound to it. They say the original gameboy has good sound,
I'm still debating whether to get 1.3 and use that or get
2.0 and buy an SP

You have the real orignal 8 bits sound on Nanoloop
1.3...SOund is Ok on both systems (SP and Old Grey) but I
prefer the sound of the Old Grey Gameboy. Only 4 channels
for this one so it is a bit hard to have a
break+bass+melody.

Nanoloop 2.0 has a quite different sound, it is more a "16
bits" sound. There are 8 channels so it is really cool for
writing breaks....

My advice would be: use 1.3 for Old grey Gameboy and write
melodies in it. Use 2.0 for SP and write your breaks with
it.
The use a midi box or a midi box and tadaaaaa
