600 AD map music is amazing.
SNES music still A+.
I could make threads like this to loads of other games, but
for now lets discuss chrono .)

Chrono trigger is almost as good as link to the past.

Probly the best rpg for the snes.

Between Xenogears, Chrono Cross, and Chrono Trigger,
Yasunori Mitsuda has proven to be really awesome. Xenosaga
to a lesser extent.

At the Bottom of the Night FTW

It sure is, i even bought the original soundtrack and it
came on 3 cd's along with 2 unreleased tracks. In fact I
liked one of the unreleased tracks so much that I reworked
it and got it compiled on the video game Vibes.

Here it is in its original form (the vibes one is slowed
down, i think)

When I get a credit card, the first thing I'll do (well, the
second or the third) is to buy Chrono Cross and Xenogears
OST's. Chrono Trigger is very cool too. I have about a dozen
Y.Mitsuda soundtracks and albums, and he's got an incredible
talent for "folkish" melodies.

I love the Schala theme (not entirely sure on the proper
name is), but I think you get it when you go to the
overworld in 12000BC and meet some princess (Schala
presumably). It's akin to the underwater levels in Donkey
Kong Country in loveliness....

I got this soundtrack, it's awesome. Yasunori Mitsuda is a
great composer (ahem.. xenogears). Zeal is easily my fav and
most nostalgic track, theres others too but this one came to
mind.

This isn't chrono trigger related, but I've been listening
to Jeremy Soul lately 'secret of evermore' and that
soundtrack is amazing too. damn those were the days..

I don't remember much about Secret of Evermore, except the
weird item/equipment system, the dog, and the fact that I
didn't really like it. I'll check out the soundtrack
though.

I miss games like that, there used to be waves of them, and
most were solid. Alundra for PS1 was supoib.

I prefered SOE to Secret Of Mana, which I played after and
which disappointed me a lot, even if I played it with my
cousin.

Secret of mana was my first rpg so ofcourse its my fav. I
think Secret of Evermore was the first rpg made by the
squaresoft company in the states. They did a pretty good
job.

i didnt play mother 1 yet, did you?

Many hardcore fans would dismiss Secret of Evermore because
of its spin-off Americana nature. I didn't like it that
much, either. The Americans managed a good team, though, by
the time of Parasite Eve at least...

I was just listening to Mitsuda's "Hako No Niwa" PS2
soundtrack - pure genius! It's a shame NOBODY is ever going
to play this game outside the East, and so few will ever
hear these brilliant tunes.

Also search for An Cinniuint, Kirite and Shadow Hearts 1 & 2
soundtracks. Shadow Hearts OST's were collabs, of course,
but Yoshitaka Hirota is a worthy partner indeed.

Big blue

Parasite Eve, haha what a game. a shit game.

Hako No Niwa sounds appelaing. must investigate.

I liked the aesthetics of Parasite Eve. Felt more like a
capcom game than a square game, actually. Gameplay was crap,
but the cut scenes were awesome, and the final boss was
scary as hell. The sequel was useless though.

I'll definitely have to look into that.

What did you think of Creid? Surely you've heard that one :)

Mother 1 is awesome, in fact a lot of the great melodies
from Earthbound were taken directly from Mother 1. There's
translated ROMs out there and stuff, definitely worth
playing.

I noticed some screenshots of Mother 3 on IGN the other day.
It looks... like a Mother game. The true test will be the
humor, wit and of course the MUSIC. If it's not the first or
at least second best music ever made, it's going to be a
disapointment.

mother 1+2 collection here.

Xenogears: Creid really grew on me after repeated listens,
and it's now one of my favourite arrange-albums ever.
Definitely.

Finally some progress: I just ordered Chrono Cross and
Shadow Hearts OST's from www.cdjapan.co.jp! Also, I picked
the first Black Mages CD. Now I just hope they deliver
soon... :)
