So aside from the upcoming CAT 181 CD: Hecker - "Recordings for Rephlex" on Rephlex I just came across this: it appears to be a 2 disc release with one track on each. release date feb 28th 2006 copy/paste from site: Disc One: Stereo Mix Disc Two: Virtual Binaural Mix Produced by Florian Hecker (copyright control) Stereo Mix recorded with a Neumann RSM 191 Microphone direct to Harddisc at the Hamburger Bahnhof on 01.10. 2005 by Lupo Virtual Binaural Rendering by Alberto de Campo Mastered by Lupo @ Dubplates and Mastering Photography: Carsten Eisfeld Graphic Design: Tina Frank "The Disenchanted Forest x 1001" is a complex sound, light and architectural installation consisting of a suspended ceiling, a raised floor, a web of luminescent string, a found text describing the method to place numbers on trees, four different kinds of posters which give views into other optical worlds, a stack of posters on a euro palette held down by a plate dispenser, a hammer, a wooden stick to extend the length of an arm and several nails. Furthermore, on a straight line, all the way around the perimeter of the room, are aluminum numbering plates from 1 - 1001. These plates are normally used to number trees along the avenues of cities in Germany but here the individual plates are nailed directly to the wall and spotlight by an occasionally revolving pistol lamp hanging from the suspended ceiling. The different light sources within the installation shift and change according to a sequenced program which is not in synch with the soundtrack. |

so uhm does anybody have this release in delicious mp3 format? i'm not usually such a stealing bastard but i can't really spend money on cds right now, otherwise i'd just buy this because there is a 250% chance it's amazing. i promise sir florian, i will buy it eventually. also, does everyone use the beta testing version of soulseek or do i just have awful luck when searching? (i have 156c the latest normal release) |

well i gave this a quick skim (i have to get to bed it's past 3am) and it's more abstract than the hecker i'm used to. pv trecks had structure with it's short tracks and ocassional recurring themes. sun pandemonium was less structural but not as abstract as this. definitely will be giving this a thorough listen all day tomorrow. |

Just finished a full listen. Still don't really like track one all that much. The airy-ness of the recording is what gets to me. Track 2 is brilliant though. Not sure if it's studio or a remastered live track, but it's great. Mego's site says it's rendered by Alberto de Campo, so I'm not really sure if it is technically a hecker track. Sounds like it though. I'm assuming Campo took the recording of the stereo mix and did some things to it. Yay |
