Thinking about Godspeed You Black Emperor- Lift Your Skinny
Fists, I want to make a thread about albums that flow
together seamlessly and are like journeys rather than just a
collection of songs. The albums create contrast or
parallelism between songs that contribute to an overall
atmosphere. I think they work best when they have bits that
aren't music but help create mood.

Lift Your Skinny Fists is great, with only 4 tracks on a
double album, every "mini track" flows together great. And
the interludes between each track are excellent (such as the
old man talking about coney island and the grocery store
announcements) and keep the entire feel throughout the album
while keeping it interesting.

A Few Old Tunes is great in this aspect. Its soiled a
little from having listened to several of the tracks
elsewhere, but it still creates a child-like/retro feel
throughout it. Geogaddi also works great as an album. (I am
not so sure about MHTRTC, though I haven't listened to it in
a while.)

Drukqs is also great. This has the ultimate contrast
between songs, that you just couldn't get from listening to
the songs individually.

I don't really expect anyone to add anything, as I am not
sure I really made myself clear. But you can contribute
albums if you want to.

Confield !!

I feel like walking in a laboratory on another planet,
watching 9 weird alien species behind a glass.

Valentin Silvestrov- Requiem for Larissa is definitely my
favorite aural experience, the first track is pure black
death and the rest is the resulting rollercoaster ride
though all the different phases of emotions and realities.
lolz hawt

Electronic wise, Chiastic Slide is one of the most visual
albums I've heard, in my head I've pretty much drawn up a
map/blueprint in my head of the mechanical city I imagine
when I listen to it. Stay away from the west end, man, scary
shit.

a lot of albums are like that for me... some more
than others, but it's even rare for me to find albums which
do not feel like a "journey" at all. so i guess i
could quote a hundred albums or something like that. which
is too much.

(also, i think geogaddi is poorly constructed so i will
disagree, but you know i keep on badmouthing boards of
canada anyway.)

Haha, I disagree with most of these, but its a particularly
subjective aspect of music.

Maybe some Dr. Octagon could be considered as well, now that
I think of it.
