i'm looking for a program where i can change the tempo of a
track without changing the pitch, and hopefully convert the
result into wav or mp3 form. any suggestions?

p.s. i can't use windows media player.

audacity is pretty decent for freeware. a bit laggy though,
can get a tad tedious. but hey, it's free!

You should get a crack of Ableton Live.

yeah, the click removal function is sorta shit, but the
normalizer and bass boosts are very helpful. it's rather
good for being freeware.

yes, the echo effects are horrible, but it could be useful
for tweaking individual sounds and loops.
