haha right. i'd be interested to hear him play music he
enjoys nowdays as opposed to just play another one of his
sets. but yeah, i doubt 20-40 listeners would be a challenge
big enough for him :D

Shock horror, Jeff Mills plays at Lost!
(he might as well be resident).

@ tolstoyed: I've not yet heard all of this stuff yet, but
I'm fairly impressed so far. I'm quite a big Mills fan too,
but of course, I'll listen in totality many times before I
judge. Still, don't hear too much of a change in his sound,
not sure how much he's progressed as an artist.

Slight tangent, really liked the Exhibitionist DVD mix
though, nice to see him up close and personal, even if he is
a raving lunatic when he starts to talk.

there's quite a change i'd say. i didn't like that tech
house crap he was into for a while one bit. this is again
minimal techno at its best though! it's like hawtin and him
are having a battle of who can create a more intense record
with as little as sound as possible. can't wait for new
plastikman!!

man, music like this proves there's only a handful of
artists in electronic music that can create perfect music.
sure, there's a lot delightful electronic music around but
majority don't get anywhere near to what top guys can do. i
wonder if all those ravers see the beauty in his music, i
often think they're not the right crowd for him :)

I know what you mean. I will be there lookin' in silence and
perfectly quiet in a room full of spastic stoned kids that
will dance all arround me...
Hope there's a lot of grrrrrls too...

oh, i don't mind dancing, is just that people from this
scene often only find this sort of music as something to
dance to and don't really listen to it. at least that's the
impression i got here, although i haven't visited many
techno raves. much prefer the normal club low profile gig.

For the mental health of Mr. Mills I better avoid dancing at
any cost.

I'm a REAL MACHO, you know. I don't dance.

:)

put on ax016 or ax018 and then this
it's like comparing michelangelo antonioni and paul w.s.

I prefer early Mills when he was a lot more aggressive and
hardcore. I still have most of his 12" releases though and
he still has his occasional stroke of genius.

When it comes to minimal + hypnotic techno, its still hard
to beat Robert Hood though. Minus is exceptionally
brilliant.

Yes, Sorry about that mega hung over. I can't focus on a
thread to long.
The best thing I have got from the mills is the live at the
liquid room, Tokyo. It bangs big time.

minus is alright but nothing near to mills's sound..i like
density he creates, the specific soft drums he uses, how he
structures his songs..dunno, i just don't find other detroit
people doing it like that..except for hawtin under his
plastikman alias.

This One Man Spaceship is Jeff back in old form! Classic
Axis style all the way. Too bad it's a limited release.
