There was a wicked compilation of techno on Andrew
Weatherall's label from '95 called:
"101 + 303 + 808 = Now Form A Band"
It might be a bit much for beginners though, not really a
home listening thing.

Oh, OK. I just assumed 'cause you were asking about it.

Talking of techno, I'm going to Voodoo in Liverpool on
saturday, and Carl Craig, the Hacker and 808 State are all
playing.
I can't wait!!!1!!

For UR, a great introduction is "Interstellar Fugitives".

For a very general intorduction to the Detroit sound, where
a lot of people started out, listen to Jeff Mills' mix "Live
At Liquid Room".

For free mixes every week or so by one of the masters of
Detroit techno on 3 decks and drum machines, go to
http://www.7mzdt.com/subjectdetroit/ and Sign Up For The
Subject Detroit Mailing List ... once you get on that,
you'll be sent the links for his mixes when they become
available (but you are not allowed to share those links
around). DJ Bone truly is the mutts nuts, I want his
children.

B12 - Electro Soma OR Time Tourists
Derrick May - Innovator
Jeff Mills - Waveform Transmission LP's are VERY good!
Kenny Larkin - Azimuth
Plastikman - Musik OR Sheet One
Carl Craig - More Songs About Food & Revolutionary Art OR
anything by him, he has lots of alter egos, check out his
Discogs page.
Basic Channel - Basic Channel
Maurizio - Maurizio
Surgeon - Force & Form

I feel guilty that I've not mentioned either Kevin
Saunderson or Juan Atkins, but it's more about individual
songs as opposed to LP/EP's for me with them.

Cheque out:
- Luke Slater - Freek Funk
- Ken Ishii - Innerelements
- Laurent Garnier - Unreasonable Behaviour
- Underworld - Dubnobasswithmyheadman

> i definitely second Unreasonable Behaviour and
Dubnobasswithmyheadman, awesome albums. : )
Second Toughest In The Infants by Underworld is also
awesome.

i think Second Toughest In The Infants and Unreasonable
Behaviour are so awesome they might be my favourite electro
albums actually.

i'd rather recommend Sleeping Madness for Ken Ishii though.
which is awesome.

i don't know Luke Slater yet but you made me want to check
it out. if it's as awesome as the other three, it must be
awesome.

i also recommend Fluke but you already know some tracks... :
)

and i've heard an album saturday (don't have it but i've
heard it) which is called Adore by I:Cube, doesn't seem to
be very available anymore unfortunately but i liked what
i've heard a lot.

sometimes i don't understand why this type of music isn't
called trance, just because it's less melodic? is trance
just the label for this kind of music when it's crap?

look here for instance, what's listed under

..
