in my terms radiohead arent really experimental. electronics
they use is what makes them sound shit imo.

Yeah, granted, not experimental as far as most music I
listen to goes, but in comparison to most of the crapola
that gets into the charts (and considering that Radiohead
also got into the charts), oh shit I was going to shut up
wasn't I?

i can always diss radiohead :)

it's funny how people who listen to mtv and don't know much
appart from that find them experimental, when all they do is
include a bit of simple and boring electronica. ofcourse
that may sound out of this world to people who listen to pop
charts music, but in terms of experimental music, well, they
shouldn't be even mentioned in the same sentance :)

radiohead are really boring. i really have no idea what the
fuss is about!

the first electronica i really got into was either chemical
brother's Star Guitar or orbital's girl with the sun in her
head. loved them.

I think as I got into music properly at about 14-15. There
was loads of stuff in the UK on Radio 1/MTV at night like
techno/house/ambient/drum and bass. Plus I was heavily into
Daft Punk and the Chemical Brothers. So when I heard all the
big Warp acts, it just sounded like a progression. The
Richard D. James album got taped for me by some other kid at
school, and I've been into it ever since I guess.

i discovered aphex when the On video was frequently played
on MTV in 93. but i haven't been all into the "idm" genre
since then. but mostly electronic all the way. techno/hiphop
etc. a freind of me was pushing autechre music on me for a
long time before i accepted it, and aftherwards got addicted
to it . maybe 96 or something. i discovered xltronic by
accident, and have been addicted to that as well for the
last few years. i don't really like "fansites", but xltronic
is emm, different, and i hate when it is refered to as a
fansite, although there are a bit hysterical fanbois here.

i was watching CKY2K when this flic came up that had Come To
Daddy under it. So i went to check for what tracks there
were played in this movie, and i found the maker of this
track, Aphex Twin. And from one thing came another

THE HISTORY OF THE FIRST TIME I HEARD IDM

It was about 2003, that times i was a chemical brothers
affictionate. I was watching to mtv when windowlicker came
up. I saw the aphex faces and remembered watching come to
daddy before.
My thoughts were "this guy is demented, its sicker than
those marilyn mason sick shit!". So, scared, i downloaded
some of aphex stuff on kazaa. I got 54 cymru beats and
digeridoo. I hated aphex twin and deleted everything.

Later, i downloaded a few other tracks and liked Bucephalous
Bouncing Ball and became an IDM fan :)

THE END

I heard Autechre the first time when i spontaneously bought
Anti EP at my local record store, recognizing that name from
"aphex twin" web search sessions on Yahoo! I immediately
fell in love with it.

The first Squarepusher track I heard was "Squarepusher
Theme" which was featured on Ken Ishii's "X-Mix" mix album /
video.

i think the freeman hardy and willis one was the track when
i first heared some of Squarepusher. I think the first full
squarepusher track was Come On My Selector

soundtracks to some of the short films\
