recording tracks to cassette tape is awesome. instant
nostalgia. the 'noise' of the tape is just awesome, too. i
feel it adds to beats, cools them down.

tapes rule, both VHS and cassette. DVDs suck.

I seem to recall Ophecks is a tape fan too.. LAZY_TITLE

u can make your own distortion effects by mucking around
with cassette samples. its really fun. try rubbing the tape
with magnets or microwaving the spool !

i have a prog im making some songs in and the un-registered
version doesnt have a recording feature. and i dont have
another PC to record audio to. so, i whipped out the sony
walkman and recorded it for pure avail and i guess some
posterity.

well, ive never tried that but if it doesnt completely melt
it, it would sound cool. magnets work well, tried that.

wonder how it works out like that, it just gives it a
saturation effect. i dont have any magnets lying around

coarsen/fuck up his cassette samples

caseetes are brilliant, it's just a shame there is no real
way of putting the sounds ytou have on them onto your pc
through mp3 converters.

ah, the good ol' days of mixtapes...

Cassette tapes do sound wicked, no doubt about that. Really
don't like VHS any more though, whoever said that they're
better than DVD should have an eye test SHARPISH!

Quality wise, I can't argue with you. DVDs are undeniably
superior. However, for everyday usability and
durability, I find that VHS tapes can't be beat.
They are infinitely easier to record to, they're cheaper,
and they don't get any damn scratches. One
well-placed scratch on a DVD and the whole thing is fucked.
Renting a DVD is hopeless, you might as well have keyed its
underside before putting it into the machine. There was one
time when some friends and I rented a movie and we couldn't
watch the last five minutes of the film. Frustrated, I took
it out and washed it two or three times. No luck. Then I
remembered it was double sided. Flipped it over, and guess
what.. scratched in the EXACT same place. At least wth VHS
tapes you can fast forward past the corrupted portion or at
the very least get enough out of it to know what's going on.
DVDs are too reliant on the digital technology. So yeah,
we never saw the end of 'Beetlejuice'.. haha. I still don't
know what happens.

cassette tapes are the only thing i record my music on. i
have mentioned this. i love cassettes. i need to get a new
multi tracker soon, as i'm afraid the cassette recorders
will be hard to come by.

i can't afford cassettes too often, but i do like using my
four-track... sometimes, i tape over shitty tapes (ie
barbera streisand) i get for free. this is a good solution.

conversion, surely?

I seriously want a tape recorder (or a dictaphone or
somethin) that I can take apart and unwire the tape wiper so
it doesn't wipe anything that's been previously recorded. It
should give me some crazy shit results.

it was the best tape.

me and my buddy cultfunkhero recently made an album where we
actually recorded half an hour worth of live stuff on
cassette, then cut parts out and put it into digital
electronic recordings. it's fairly interesting.
