what kind of sounds do you use?
Do you make your own?
Do you just feed out of available soundbanks?

i believe its important to create your own sounds, even if
it's a typical given sound, you can always modifiy it in a
unique way. : ) PEACE

I pretty much use kitchen utensils solely

I mostly sample from cds or from the soundbanks on my gear
and of course modify it all

kitchen utensils are great. listen to chris clark, that has
kitchen utensils written all over it.

just record a minute of frantic banging, scratching,
cutting, chopping, scraping, etc. feed it into recycle,
send to sampler 1 note per sample, load up sequencer and
make wicked percussion to go with breaks. easy!

I always thought it would be cool if you used those squeaks
you can make on the wall of your shower. You can make a lot
of different noises.

microphone and a portable recording device. not difficult.
you can hear excellent sounds all around you. best sound you
can get are on building sites i think. i heard them chuck a
massive bit of plaster board off the side of some scafolding
into a skip and it resonated throughout the superstructure
of the building creating the most massive fantastic sound.

just record sounds and snip them up into tiny sections for
use as drums. get a loo roll and anything else and record
your voice through it. get a contact microphone and attach
it to your radiator to record fantastic reverb from your
central heating system, there are so many fantastic sounds
around. i rarely walk around with headphones on because the
natural world has better sounds.

anywhere there is machinery it sounds good. factories,
building sites, airports, roads. ive got a sampled dot
matrix printer and that rocks.

just make sure you record or master them so they are
normalised and sound ok, top and tail them in a wave editor
to remove pops and maybe add any effects you want.

the best way to get good stabs is to randomly turn the mic
on for half a second during some noisy activity whilst
recording and you can later use lots of these snippets with
some delay and reverb and they sound excellent but require
no effort. just think amon tobin samples everything!

Absynth for bass drums coz i likes it.

and then a matter of:

Reaktor .ens (any)
creating snapshot module. create control on rnd input. then
output random into any other module. then pressing random.
then making the playing with the midi controllering. also
works with with machines like aerobic.

and lots of recycling. that thing is the fucking
uberhaxorzcooldudemegawowzer.

i just feed out of available soundbanks. or sometimes sample
an instrument from a track i hear. and then disguise it in a
track i make. lately been using mic again to record some
samples myself.

PEACE !

man, you need to get the Jam DVD

and The Day Today

and Nathan Barley

and My Wrongs #8245-8249 & 117

and you need to watch the new comedy program on channel 4
that will be out very soon called IT Crowd (although Chris
is only acting, no writing or directorial credits)

wooden spoon or slam the fridge door...

no, you're not.

even if i only record voice sample or some talking - there's
usually an interesting sound in the background that i cut
out of the recording and use.

the only fun sampling is cutups of exhisting parts of
songs,
to build a beat and render it to .wav and cutup is THE
