if you can record a real piano or atleast play a keyboard
with real piano sounds I would be quite interested. but not
for this kind of stuff.

but to be honest I don't make this type of music usually.
maybe like one track in a couple of months or so. I'd rather
listen to it then make it. my actual music sounds nothing
like drukqs or snares and is better then my half assed
attempt at making aphex beats . I find programming 3 min. of
contantly changing breaks a bit....boring.

you should ask staz if you wanna do drukqs type of drums.
he'd gladly make some and has probably already made
65448,6566 minutes worth of them...... i think :D

would anyone mind commenting on my short experimentation at
creating a fast drum beat?

thats pretty good, sort of bogdan raczynski's style.

snares' beats are pretty complex. ive never managed to make
anything that intricate. i probably could, but it would take
so long to put together

thanks but.. Damnit! lol, i thought people were going to
say, what the bloody hell is this it's rubbish..

and then i'd say, well i make music for myself, not you.

And then secretly love the fact that it's not copying anyone
elses style.

haha. nah its cool, thanks for the comment Ezkerraldean

even Bezcitny has this sequence that loops constantly, but
with different sounds and effects and tricks and glitches
and shit. It's much easier to construct organized complexity
that way, rather then chaotic and ugly complexity (like,
randomly sequencing beats for 8 minutes long throughout the
track)

i've tried that :D
ugly shit, despite the mildly good sample lib

if you don't want to copy anyone elses style, why do you
want to make drums like vsnares?

just do what you do and it will work itself out like it
should.

once again a followup (no edit button, as mentioned 4759753
times before)

Mt. Saint Michel also has the same loop of beats, but this
time Afx rather fill's up the holes inbetween the 'main kick
and snare' with constant different shit, and some layers of
other sounds atop of it. Really, like the short 808 snare
sequence from 2:33 to 2:34, 16 beats of sequenced beat,
looped twice, but the second time he uses some retrigger
effects, some this some that. Most of the time i think the
other layers like the melody also plays a roll in that

Fah
thanks for that. very interesting.

Well you see, i'm not trying to re-create music like
venetian snares, no no.
I'm trying to improve my skill, as i said before in my other
post, i set myself tasks to make similar beats to improve my
skill. For example, i set myself the task of recreating and
analysing leftfields beats so i can improve not only
structure wise, but sound wise also ( panning etc ).
So yes, in a way i am trying to recreate V snares beats, but
not because i will create drum beats just like his in my
music no no. What i am trying to do is find out how to do
such complexity, giving me a broader choice to what beats i
can make, if i like.

most stuff out there like aphex twin and venetian snares and
all this heavy beat idm is really just guess and check
programming - doesn't anyone else get really board with
squarepusher now?

my gripe with venetian snares is that he's non-stop idm
gimmicks, and a horrible mixer/masterer of his stuff too

somehow i prefer squarepusher over snares, i actually think
his beats are more concentrated then snares's, plus snares
is using the same formula over and over again, so to me it
gets boring
