Kanye West and such...

I highly admire this man's music. From listening to his
work and other artists like Common, I have realised to
appreciate hip-hop and the original material of this genre
even more. West's new track featuring Adam Levine "Heard 'Em
Say" has a unique style that I am really enjoying. Can
anyone recommend me more albums with music like this, stuff
with real drumming or beats (no TR 909 type stuff) and stabs
or melodies that sound soft and comfortable.

what do you like best about his music? the irritating
pitched-up chipmunk singing or the totally obnoxious
"forever ever everevereevreeverever" chorus?

Yeah, I heard Quasimoto said that he was glad there's some
hip hop on the radio he actually likes. Chuck D is a fan
too.

that sped up chorus lyric shit is the WORST thing to happen
to hiphop since puff daddy

kanye has about four songs per album that are genius...he's
a talented guy for sure

True, I don't necessarily like that part of Diamonds, but
the intro is great. I think. What I like about his music is
the deep city, really true feeling. I

If Kayne West was on Stone's Throw, all these backpacker
kids would love him. Face the fact that sometimes good music
can get into the charts!

chuck D isn't a fan, he said that all kanye does is speeding
up old records.

He was on British MTV and he said that 50 cent didn't
interest him, but he thought Kanye had something to say.

Ha, yeah. Remember when all the indie kids were talking
about Rawkus records like it was the only good hip hop label
in the world?

yeah, that label was shit...

it became the mtv version of indie rap and all these people
would come up to me and say "oh you like indie rap, you must
love rawkus" and i sorta looked at em and
thought...shit...how do i get outta this room

what's wrong with that list? those are some quality acts
right there. I'd have made the same list for someone not
usually into hip-hop...

The tipping point, while not as good as their previous
albums, was one of the top albums of 2004 for me and Mos Def
had a good party-ish thing going with the new danger..
Blackalicious haven't been making good since Blazing Arrow,
true, and Lyrics Borns solo thingie rocket ship something
something makes me stress...

dear kanye,

you are the best thing to happen to (commercial) hiphop in a
long time, if ever. while i don't listen to your music on my
own time, such as in my car or at home, i think that you are
a great producer and have a unique sound that surpasses most
hiphop, and other music in general, in terms of structure,
melody, quality of sound, etc.

big ups kanye, you are one of the few that deserve every
ounce of success that you recieve.

ps, please don't whack out and please keep working with
Common. slip him a Mickey while you are at it, and maybe
he'll go back to his Resurrection days. you can do
orangewatermelon-revisted.

love,
somejerk

i agree with what you said about Blackalicious. something is
missing from the new one, i can't even remember what it's
called it's so insignificant. i really enjoyed the New
Danger from Mos, a log of people hated it.

wordemup

i disagree - melodica was the only thing close to a good
full length they had, chief xcel CANT produce a full length
and gift of gab, although talented, cant last long they
would be great at making ep's

the best stuff besides that ep is "fully charged on planet
x" and the cut chemist 2 minute workout - they have like 6
songs that are fucking AMAZING and the rest are utter
garbage

i lost interest when soulsides became quannum
