i have to make a choice - should i get :
a good mixer - soundcraft compact 4/10 for example - i would have to connect it to my sound card ( latency problems ) and after that put the sound to nice pair of active monitors?
audio interface - tascam interfaces forexample - to get rid of sound card and ( as above ) run the sound to monitors?
purpose is for home recording of course, but :
1. im mostly recording some stuff to master it later on, no live singing/ guitar playing / etc.
2. my midi controller is connected straight to PC via USB.
3. i dont plan to build big studio with loads of mics. i just need something to transfer my sound through PC ( where i can play with it) to monitors.
5.various options make variety of price, but its quite balanced- either mixer and really good monitors, or better audio interface and weaker monitors.
what should i choose ?

ps( i forgot ): i plan to connect turntable - just for listening. i can do that with cheaper mixers ( most of the have enough inputs and preamps ). with audio interface i would have to seek for better one - the main problem wouod be the number of inputs,as i understand.and i dont know if its worth to add another L100 just to get 6 holes when i want only additional two, for my TT.

I would invest in a good soundcard and a cheap dj mixer for the tuntable....If you don't need to mix before the recording stage (ie. levelling Several mic's on a drumkit) then this is the best way.
£300-£350 should be able to set you up with some decent kit.
You didn't mention having a seperate amplifier which you will need unless you opt for active monitors.

The individual phono preamps i have seen are ridiculously expensive at around £100 and the soundcraft mixer you mentioned is unlikely to have phono level inputs. you could by a half decent 2 chanel dj mixer for £50 so i would go for that.
That way you can send your turntable into the mixer, then into the line level input of the pc soundcard for sampling and also to play it out through the monitors. The Dj mixer could also run directly into the monitors if you want to bypass the pc.

ah. seems i dont need as much as that. heres what i want :
-connect interface (or mixer) to pc. -one input for mic ( for security, who knows ) -one input for MIDI ( well, most of them runs through USB,but who knows )
-one input for my TT -one output for headphones -one output for monitors ( active ones)
thats what i need,no more no less. and i want to elimitane latency problems.audio interface does that perfectly.mixer - no,as still i would run the sound through sound card ( no ASIO for my sound card yet )
seems that its hard to find something so simple :P

hardly, there's an absolute load of devices out there that describe exactly what you're after, quite affordably. see the other thread.

The point im trying to make is that i've never seen a soundcard with the capability of accepting a phono level input (turntable). which is why you need a dj mixer or seperate phono to line converter.
Phono level is much quieter than line level, it needs to be amplified to be heard and an earth pin is also required to stop hum.
I think the dj mixer or seperate amp with a phono level input is a necessary evil im afraid

this "TT" thingie you're talking about.. is that your turntable, and is it the Numark TTX?
In that case, you don't need a "special" turntable in.. they have silly digital output.

no. its TT 1610. amplifier needed. seems like the TT holds me off buying any other interface that would do the work.
