i still use a 4 track! that is my main recording device. i'm
not crazy about the digital setup, mainly for aesthetic
reasons. also, that should be a tascam mkii414 in my list.
also, i love it.

I have an ancient 4 track. Its so old its got DIN connectors
and I had to make up leads especially for it. It picks up
more mains hum than an unshielded cable running through a
substation, but adds a rather lovely quality to sounds. I
use it on individual synth sounds, not on a whole mix.

I also have:
DJ setup of 2 decks and mixer (and tons of vinyl)

Roland SP303 phrase sampler

Akai S5000 studio sampler

Behringer 16ch. mixer (defective -soon to be stripped for
parts and replaced)

DSI evolver tabletop synth

TC m300 fx unit

Computer with lots of old software from 96,97 era and big
hard disc for recording

Amstrad CPC6128 for 8 bit bleeps and bloops

Shure vocal microphone

Evolution 4 octave usb midi keyboard with assignable knobs

and a drawful of components, which will one day when I get
round to it be a noise gate, distortion unit, ring modulator
and midi capable 909 style step sequencer(cos I hate using
mouse/keyboard for drums)

i have a keyboard i call the radio shack 9000, a casio mini
keyboard, a fender strat, a flange pedal, a malfunctioning
amp, and an array of batteries to get the juices flowing. i
can also make a kazoo out of blades of grass if necessary.

You could try building your own pack of 6 D batteries for a
Korg ES-1.

BTW, does anyone have a Roland MC09? Are they any good?
