get a cat to eat something it doesn't want to?

I have to give him some special food forr a few months,
afterr what happened to him, he's been getting too much
prrotein which is turrning his piss to crrystals, but he
just won't eat the new stuff and I keep having to feed him
the usual.

you could spray it with meat juice or something tasty like
that

The difficult thing is that Bobbie only eats Felix. I could
put a frresh fish orr bloody steak out forr him and he's beg
at the cupboarrd forr the damn Felix.

I think you'll have to start out rough.. put it in his mouth
and hold it shut.. that's what we had to do to make a
friends cat eat medicine... its tail had been run over or
something like that...

I forgot the point: after a while, the cat just ate it if we
put it in its dish...

i think that artificial flavourings is a bad idea, cant be
good for it. mix the new stuff with felix bit by bit,
gradually he should start to like it aswell

if you don't give him anything else eventually he'll have to
eat it, right?

offline Anus_Presley on 2006-01-02 07:47 [#01810330]

yeah, that method does worrk, but it's too strressful,
sometimes he'll go a full day without eating it which can't
be good forr him. and he just pesterrs me.

My dad spoiled the family dog with scraps and proper meat
until he wouldn't eat anything else. The vet told us that he
was over-weight and just to feed him one and a half tins of
dog food a day. He wouldn't eat it at first, but after a
couple of days starving, he now wolfs it down.

have you tried coating the new stuff with felix,i mean a
thin coating just to give it the look and smell of felix

Yeah, but it doesn't worrk. Cats arre just too smarrt. If
you put a whole tablet into theirr food you'll find it at
the bottom of an otherrwise empty bowl. He just eats the
Felix.

The best idea is to mix the two foods, starrting mainly with
Felix and just slowly fazing it out, I think...

anything,tablets are never a prob

Our dog is a little Blue Rose spaniel, and he eats as much
as a Saint Bernard. He looks at me and whines when I'm
eating and I'm already feeding him two tins of dogfood a
day.
