Yes, I have! but I decided to listen again of course. I read
the topic "post electro" as a request for people to actually
post electro though :p

Thanks, fm is really strange and demented. I guess you could
call that positive feedback, at least in my eyes. Clean
sounding and all, maybe a little too absurd on the melodic
side? :D It's like electro meets chiptunes.

Demented.... I wanna do stuff that sounds strange but you
can still dance to it.
Cheers, your stuff is better technically though, I like it a
lot.

Thanks, but this aint really that technical though. Mostly
straightforward electro/synths with some funky knobtweaking
here and there :)

yo, yo, more intelectuall endeavours:
doggy_b: I quite dig that, it's spacey, it's flowin', but I
really truly hate the VT_CB (as it's called in FL) sound
:-)
oyvinto: 4/6, so much for the endeavour.
impakt: the first track: some cold vibes, but I was hoping
to hear some beats!!

And I tell you guys, staz's "On a Herald Go" will be rockin'
the house tonight!!

eighties! Need's more sci-fi in my opinion :D

I like all the tracks in this thread immensely (apart from
my joke effort which is just a loop in progress). I am glad
you crazy kids are looking to Electro for inspiration
instead of keep going round the soulless cul-de-sac that is
drill / breakcore / d'n'b-lite. Cygnus' track, along with
Sean's (as well as the others) were inventive enough to get
me actually excited about music again and gives me hope for
the future.

I was saying that shit in '01.
Nothing gives me hope now. If a band came out that
seamlessly mixed glossy pop production values, awesome
catchy songwriting, showmanship and super-smart electronic
production, I might get slightly exicited.

Maybe.

Oh, and they would have to be really preppy young
Conservatives, too. That would be awesome and perverse.

I'm listening to Mozart right now. That's quite old.

I think there are acts that are like that, French ones
probably.

I wish some people would at least try to match the
production values of the 80s, like, as I think yourself
mentioned, Trevor Horn and the job he did with Frankiee goes
to Hollywood or Propaganda. Listening to them now, they blow
"Phat" into the godamn water.

offline swears from junk sleep on 2006-01-01 09:32 [#01809833]
Points: 6474 Status: Lurker

Yes, Trevor Horn was awesomes. His stuff with ABC was
fucking class, especially the synth bassline on "Look of
Love".
I think most English bands nowadays lack any sort of
imagination at all. So anything interesting will probably
have to come from abroad.

I'm working on building myself an 80's studio actually, I'm
looking for some books/magazines with some 80's
techniques/ethics/general information to keep it as close as
possible. But I haven't found anything yet, so I'm just
going on my own assumptions.

Ten years ago, everybody was talking about how shit the
eighties were (apart from Public Enemy and The Smiths), and
how great it is to revive seventies styles/production
values.

No, I like the eighties too. I just think it's interesting
the way things go around. Your eighties studio sounds like a
good idea.
