Blue Sky Media Desk 2.1 --> Solid midrange in a convenient sized speaker, attenuatable sub w/ built in amplifier, and expansion slots for 5.1 satellites. Endorsed by LucasArts, used on StarWars post production, Incredible Hulk, TombRaider, and Finding Nemo.
$450 out the door and shocking more people arent aware of these.

regardless, they sound amazing. Held their own against the Mackies at a fraction of the price.

recipe for studio monitors:
1: two tin cans. bean cans are good, but not as good as those large one with cucumbers inside.
2: twenty metres of string. 3: two needles. 4: steel wire.
Bend the steel wire into a rack that will hold the two cans. Suspend cans on wire rack, but remember to discard the cucumbers/beans first. When you are certain that the cans will fit, take a break. Four hours should do. Come back and thread each of the needles with each end of the string, and be careful so you don´t slip on the floor: cucumbers can be slippery and are known to be unpredictable. If you used beans, just take everything very slow, and you should be ok. Punch a hole in the tin cans with the needles and secure them from the inside using the neeldes as anchors. Place the speakers at such a distance from each other that the string is straight. You´re all set, enjoy your studio monitors!
